I don't think they could have held their territory for long (especially if they'd occupied Britain as well) considering how fast they fell after Normandy. ![]() the occupation of britain would mean that the US would have to start their invasion all the way from the other side of the ocean and would give German extended control of the waters. so first of all, they'd see the invasion coming long before it would actually happen, and prepare accordingly second, they would be able to do (more) damage before the actual drop. third, air attacks were mostly based from the UK. UK being under German control would take away this risk and the diverse resource could be relocated to better use. etc. so basically, controlling britain would have made a huge difference stratigically and warfare based. the outcome of the second world war might have been completely different.

As far as armament, they were about equal. I read in an artice where some german pilots actually had some problems with the me-262 just because of it's great speed. They had very little time to actually aim and fire, and it frequently overshot more agile fighters or slow bombers. But in the end I guess I agree that the advantage would be with the 262, because the spit would be fighting on the 262 pilots terms due to difference in speed. The best german fighter was most likely the FW-190. Powerful engine, good climbrate, good turning rate, heavy figherpower, and sturdy. Also, the early fighters had trouble with visibility because of the cockpit positioning. As you see on the early spit, they couldn't check their six easily because the cockpit was buried in the fuselage. Later on it was raised and positioned more ontop, as well as having thicker and larger shaped glass design. Edit: Btw, that first picture is not of an ME-262, and I love the design of the ME-109 despite of all it's flaws. ^^
