I already had it in my online shopping cart in white, 32GB Wifi edition. But then I was like " only 32GB - for a Premium device? I don't think so."

Especially because I JUST KNOW they will bring a 64GB+ version in like half a year. And got myself a 16GB shield tablet with a nice 64 GB microSD card. Yes, I am aware the Nexus 9 is 64 bit and got a brand new Denver dualcore. But so what?

The shield quadcore will be good enough for just about anything you can throw at it, and once apps will be fully optimized I will - in all likelihood - get myself a new one if necessary. The money I saved will definitely help.

According to a lot of reviews the HTC boomsound speakers are kinda disappointing too, while the ones on the shield are surprisingly good. Display is neat but probably not all that much of an upgrade from FullHD. Camera(s) should be kinda meh on both devices.

Looking forward to my shield.

One more thing, no one actually answered how do you listen to youtube while on another app.

Fully using an other app while using YT? Idk, get a regular music player I guess.

I'm using PVSTAR+ for playing YT in background. It's cool. You can make custom playlists and stuff. Works nicely on my Moto G (first gen). No root needed.

cool, will give it a try

on a side note, i miss my Moto G best phone ever created price/performance is just out of this world, incredible smooth for its price as long as you dont want some high-end gaming

I really like the 4:3 aspect ratio of the Nexus 9, though. That is something Apple got right from the start and they're sticking to it, smartly so.

Nexus 9 is totally worth the sale price of $199.

I'm on android 5.0 on my nexus 5. It was laggy initially, but after a reboot, it's just as fast as KitKat. I really like the new notifications center. They incorporated a control center that's ios 7 like. You can now turn on the flashlight in the control center. Wi-Fi can be turned on and off in one press.

The triangle, circle, and square remind me of PlayStation.

Finally stopped procrastinating and simply got a Nexus 5. No regrets, it just feels suuuuuuuper smooth to use. And surprisingly easy to handle considering the size. It's about the same as my S3 but the Nexus just feels much much nicer.

The best part though is my new contract: Europe-wide data roaming ftw. Best thing to happens since Schengen.

Cyanogenmod has got that as well, for quite some time now too I think. Gave my GNexus a second life really.

Sale price of 199? But only in the US, I'm assuming?

The prices in EU won't budge. 399 Euro for a 16 GB device, when you can get the Retina iPad Mini in 32 GB and LTE for the same price. Seems risky.

He's not wrong. Nexus 9 did go on sale for $199 but obviously it sold out very quickly.

Oh well, in that case... i regret what i said

but the base price it is $399 for it, and it was a flash deal

hope i can get another one soon, i really want a Nexus 9, although i do think 16GB (real 12GB) its somewhat low, 32GB should be enough

For all of you guys thinking about holding out on Nexus 5 or not, hold out at least until Black Friday. The rumor about Google discontinuing Nexus 5 is confirmed to be untrue, while someone on reddit nexus 5 confirmed that Google is indeed continuing their Nexus 5 line.

We will see major discounts this holiday season. I need the phone badly but I'm waiting for the price to drop. It's stupid to pay the same price for a phone I could have paid at the same price last year.

really? i use my tablet mostly for watching video in bed, or reading in portrait. i find 4:3 to be useless for my needs, which is why its one of the biggest reason why im not so excited about nex 9. But tim trapped in my own bias here. what could be the reason ppl prefer 4:3 over wider ratio?

A normal 8.5/11" paper is approximately a 4:3 ratio in portrait. As I read a lot of papers (grad school) the size is really convenient since it all fits on the screen without shrinking the page. A 16 by 9 ratio is great for watching movies and stuff, but having the extra width in a 4:3 has its uses as well.

Sheet music, most websites, SNES emulation, everything that used to be A4 paper, pretty much anything that isn't watching videos.

If the only thing you do is watch films on it, the iPad is shit anyway, because it doesn't have front firing speakers.

Google’s Chromecast seemed a fairly innocuous seed when first planted back in July of 2013, but Google has been steadily ramping up the potential for the streaming HDMI dongle, via developer support and updates to its core software. Now, Google is announcing family-friendly games designed for Chromecast, which mark a concerted effort to turn the streamer into a console alternative for users who might’ve previously sought out a Wii for some multiplayer action that’s fun for everyone.

The new Chromecast apps announced today use your smartphone as a controller for the software running on the dongle attached to your TV, and include classics like Wheel of Fortune, as well as twists on old favourites like Monopoly Dash, Scrabble Blitz, Connect Four Quads, and Simon Swipe. The apps are all available for both iOS and Android, and work on both tablets and smartphones so that virtually anyone who happens to drop by can get in on the action.

nother new title is Just Dance Now, which is a mobile version of the Kinect-based dancing game, which uses your mobile device’s motion sensors to provide a basic kind of action tracking that translates your movements into the game. Big Web Quiz and Emoji Party offer two very different trivia experiences to the app, with Web Quiz drawing from Google’s Knowledge Graph to generate a healthy stock of questions to burn through, while Emoji Party lets you play a guessing game involving translating the communication icons into famous movie titles.

Chromecast is following in Apple’s footsteps with its two-screen gaming ambitions, taking cues from titles like Splitmo’s Poker Night TV, SketchParty TV and Real Racing, all of which use the TV for primary gaming displays while offering different content and interfaces on connected mobile devices. It’s a great use case for streaming gadgets, but one that also, as of yet, hasn’t produced any really noteworthy successes. Now that Google is shipping Android TV, complete with built-in Cast functionality, however, maybe we’ll start to see greater uptake of hybrid TV/mobile games.

Also new to Chromecast are Showtime Anytime and Starz app updates that bring Casting to their content library, which is great for existing subscribers to both channels. Chromecast’s app discovery website now also features a breakdown of software by category, making it easier to find specific content types as the library of compatible apps grows.

With 2014 coming to a close in just a few weeks, the consumer version of the Google Glass wearable device won't be coming out this year, as originally planned. A new report says that Google is now looking for the launch to happen sometime in 2015.

The news comes from Reuters, which cites an unnamed source that is "familiar with the matter". It also offers a rather bleak portrait of the eyewear's future prospects. Google Glass, which was first announced in 2012 with a ton of hype, has been losing interest from app developers. Reuters reports they contacted 16 software creators who had previously launched apps for Google Glass, but nine of them stated they had stopped work on those apps, due to the lack of users and the hardware limitations of the device itself. A few weeks ago, Twitter pulled their own official Google Glass app from MyGlass.

For its part, Google claims to have "hundreds" of team members still working on Google Glass. The division's Head of Business Operations Chris O'Neill is quoted as saying, "We are as committed as ever to a consumer launch. That is going to take time and we are not going to launch this product until it's absolutely ready."
