This is a tragic event. Let's not derail the thread with a gun control debate. Posts from page 9 onward will be moderated for steering the discussion towards gun control. |

Big enough population + problems on many scales + access to materials = someone will snap and use all means possible to do something horrible. Because when someone walks into a theater and murders a dozen people at random, human beings don't generally respond with "well, statistically speaking this was inevitable at some point." I'm genuinely confused at what the point of your post is supposed to be. Yes, it sucks, yes, it's tragic. It's still bound to happen. All you can really do is hope that it won't happen in a theater/bank/museum/airport/business center where you actually are yourself or know people who are there. Don't really get your point, I think it's because you don't have one. You can literally say the same thing about any tragedy, that it's statistically likely to happen at some point. That doesn't really say anything. The point is that instant talk about "tightening security" and "needing guards in movie theaters" is utter bullshit since it won't fix anything. Well then it's good that no one here is discussing those things. Thanks for your preemptive input.
Go re-read the first two pages then. Or give it a day and see what political responses will be.

I don't see a bunch of armed security guards at college after that one guy killed a bunch of people at college....

Completely unrelated to the theater shooting.

Did I avert death today? I was watching a mid day session of the Dark Knight (In Australia) and someone started kicking in the back door to the theater (unsuccessfully) everyone started freaking out. Maybe it was simultaneously failed attempt across the globe

I was going to go and see the film but decided not to because it'd be so late. This is so shocking and unbelievable. I'm in shock and I wasn't even there.
I really hope he is ok man, my heart goes out to everyone there. :'(

I was wondering whether he just left (i.e. stopped trying to kick down the door) after a while, and I guess he did, fortunately :/ definitely crazy shit.
My mind is just sort of blown. We all know that these things do happen, but wow. I don't think this has happened to very many showings, if any. Has something like this ever occurred? I feel like something probably has, but I can't recall... I shudder to think how easily it could just happen at any random theater...

It's insane to think you could be going to the movies and end up dead because of some lunatics, what a fucked up world we live in.

The robot is searching in the boot (trunk) and it appeared to have something in its claws holding it up and came out. It has gone back in now though. (I cant hear sound as im at work though sorry!)

wow 6 year old in the hospital

They say it's a janitor, it's no wonder this happened. I've worked as a janitor and it probably has to be the worst fucking thing on the planet. Get treated like absolute shit, make shit, cleaning shit. It's too bad and things like this will continue to happen because everyday people cause it. =/
People seriously should stop acting surprised that these things happen. There's always somebody who will get pushed to their limit especially with the aggressive nature that is in everyday American life.
