There's a pretty strong case that Obama is of the mindset that first-world countries are inherently bad and that America is a force for evil. He thinks that America and Europe exploit less-developed countries and that Israel is nothing more than a neo-colonialist state. Well we did start two wars to get access to the oil in less developed middle eastern countries... No, we didn't. The war with Afghanistan has zero to do with any natural resource acquisition, and if the war in Iraq was about oil, you'd think the US would have actually seen some of that oil come back to the States. Except...yeah...it hasn't. Europeans and Chinese get far more than we do, and this isn't the 1700s. Invading entire countries for natural resource acquisiton isn't cost effective, isn't smart, and there are far, far more efficient/cheaper/common sense options available to a country as powerful as the United States. It sounds so nice on paper, but the facts don't support the myth that the United States launched an invasion of Iraq to "get oil".
Both iraqi wars have been about oil on some level. If we controlled Iraq and prevented them from Do you even know what country is to the south of Iraq? If Iraq became aggressive to its neighbors, what do you think would happen to your gas prices and the supply of oil the US receives from the middle east? Even though it's not a majority, it still impacts the global economy and would affect us. Oil is a factor, whether it is major or minor. There are a shitload of authors that will tell you different reasons for the war, all with some basis in truth.

Maybe he was busy Or perhaps he harbors an anti-British sentiment due to the British colonization of Kenyan? Either way, he blew off the leader of America's closest ally as if it was nothing.

Hell, how the heck do you expect anyone to know that those British players handle different stuff, I don't. He's culturally ignorant and insentive towards both Americans and the British.

I don't think anyone, least of all the queen, cares. Obama cares so little about Britain that he disgraces their head of state. Additionally, if he truly believes that his speeches are the hallmark of American culture, then... I don't even need to finish that sentence, do I?

So? Yet again he disgraces the leader of our closest ally.

If that doesn't sound ridiculous to you, you're lying. A minor offense, but still shows how his lack of respect and ignorance regarding British customs and traditions.

War dead ain't a measure of alliance. Nevermind the special relationship between America and Britain; or the fact that France refused to help America in the Iraq War, whereas Britain was more than happy to help us.
War dead ain't a measure of alliance.
June 2012: President Obama refers to the Falkland Islands as ‘the Maldives’
I did that last week. Is anyone shocked, appalled, or offended?
That is one of the worst things you can do to insult a British person, that flies in the face of everything. Also, Obama sides with Argentina in this dispute, despite the fact that Britain is our closest ally and that the people in the Falkland Islands don't want to join Argentina.

Is Britain not going to be our ally anymore because Obama didn't give them properly formatted DVDs for a photo-op present, or misnamed some islands? Unless this is the 13th Century and Britain is the Vatican, I'm pretty sure matters of pageantry aren't actually relevant to anyone of any importance.
May 2011: Barack Obama signs wrong date in Westminster Abbey visitor’s book
Someone took time out of their day to research this, report it, and write an article stating it as a fact actually worth knowing. I hate this person.
Again, this is why Republicans lose. They don't get that cherry-picking for every irrelevant smear you can find only makes you look transparently desperate.

On a related note, that woman who just finished speaking in the Democratic Convention was quite a poor speaker. I wish both parties could be above this "I'm a woman and this is what I think let me be emotional and conform to stereotypes" spiel and instead just calmly approach issues without all the fluff. It looks like this woman might be more intelligent because she is actually important and obviously not present just for her looks.

I'm so gald I was able to use Planned Parenthood before the Repubs shut them down completely. You know, it's not just about abortions and not just for women either...

Obama never sided with Argentina, now you're making up things off the top of your head.
Personally I don't see how not knowing the difference between British and American DVD players is cultural insensitivity.
"Additionally, if he truly believes that his speeches are the hallmark of American culture, then... I don't even need to finish that sentence, do I?"
He never said that.
"A minor offense, but still shows how his lack of respect and ignorance regarding British customs and traditions."
His wife, and most British people don't know that.
"Or perhaps he harbors an anti-British sentiment due to the British colonization of Kenyan. Either way, he blew off the leader of America's closest ally as if it was nothing."
The hell?!
Your argument is nothing more than a silly reason to bash Obama.

First we have a pretty girl who talks about small government, then a black veteran who is now succesful, and this asian- amputee who try to evoke emotions for some reason. I want them to talk about politics and issues, dammit!
WTF she was a helicopter pilot, did not expect that at all.

Yep, the difference of course, is the Democrats at least remember to thank the safety net programs they used when they were bootstrapping instead of condemning them lol.

How do independents get enough support to run for election, especially for something like Governor? o.O
|
I've met Tammy Duckworth on a couple occasions, she's from my area of the Chicago suburbs. Really nice woman who had the misfortune to run against a Republican in a Republican district in her first foray into politics. They've hated her ever since.

Vermont, New Hampsire, and Minnesota come to mind as states with a tradition of indepentant political representation in at least some form.

The candidates' answers to the ScienceDebate.org questions have been posted up at Scientific American, and it makes for pretty grim reading. Obama talks more about what America has achieved already than about what more he can do to support science, and Romney tends to avoid talking about science and focus on his desire to give businesses more tax cuts. Both seem to clearly favour keeping NASA neutered as well.
