A prof of mine teaches a class called "The Politics of Fashion," and I have the reading list. Here's a few of the themes: Does Fashion have Politics? Fashion Theory Distinction and Hierarchy Industry and Production Style Politics Fashion Police Colonialism/Imperialism Global Economies I bolded the ones people here might be most interested in. I can post up selections from books, or discussion questions or something. | ||

I think we'll be ok if we shy away from gender politics and focus a bit more on aesthetics and industry/manufacturing stuff. I have to look through the list again, but I'll try to be selective for readings that would be relevant to what's already discussed in the thread. | ||

They are bulky as fuck, weigh more than the stuff you probably can fit in them, and are generally obtrusive. It's almost like you are carrying the bag just to carry the bag. Not to mention that opening and closing them are a nightmare every time. | ||
