cole haan is at that price range and are pretty good. especially the older ones with nike air, much more comfortable. i have 2 pairs, got them for $130 each? actually i dont use the brown captoes, i should get rid of them if i still have them.

steve madden is in the same boat (as kenneth cole), pretty bad quality. if you need it for work save the $300 for some allen edmonds or something.

For a cap toe oxford try AE's park avenue. Factory seconds go down to around $200 during sales
For a derby try mono black 1461 docs or red wing postmans (mine finally broke in)

It's a cliche, but you save money by buying less but buying better

so I tried on a john varvatos goat suede sidezip today and it was wonderful and I NEED IT. too bad its $800 though. Guidis are around $1200 - is the 50% jump worth? Are other artisinal brands around that ~1k mark? also unsure on varvatos quality. researching right now. distressed leather is pretty

edit - i lied the varvatos is more around $500. might be worth, but thats still buttero/margiela range and i dont know much about the make of varvatos. all i know is that i liked the fit, leather, and distressing.

personally I'm not a fan of the ma+/guidi last but that obviously depends person to person.

I used to have a pair of suede $50 varvatos desert boots and they held up pretty nicely. his regular leather seemed better though at that price point.

I tried on some Guidi backzips and I really fucking liked them, can't ever seem to find them in a white colorway though (I really like white shoes).

Where'd you find guidi in toronto? Sydneys stopped stocking them

My friend owns a pair and we're the same shoe size (feels good man)

he picked them up at ink-clothing in HK but has since sold them :'(

there's a collab of layer-0 x inaisce bone derbies that look nice

Any opinions on 3sixteen st-220x vs. rogue territory stealth SKs? Deciding between those two. SKs are heavier with a longer backrise, st220x are black on black but pictures show they do fade and it looks really weird.

big problem is that I could use some now. I'm saving atm but i need something to hold me over for the first 3 months or so. Ended up getting some bostonians (~$70). Those I know have a not great rep, but I'll get some AE's after a few months. Willing to buy colhe haan's with airs, mine broke but the airs were super comfy. (those are the black shoes I'm replacing) what shoe size are you?

edit: I understand the philosophy of saving money by buying better quality taking care of my stuff, just don't have the money at the moment
