I'm waiting for people to pick up on my fashion. That is, wearing sweat pants and a striped thermal shirt everyday to school. I like to think that I'm *comfortably* ahead of the curve.

i love peacoats so I fully approve of OP. With that said, i like the jcrew one that you picked out but watch out for the collars - you wont be able to maintain it popped like that when you wear it without looking like an idiot. you should go and try it on before buying it

Yeah I wouldn't be wearing it popped like the model. And thank you for your approval on the op.

first peacoat is the best (fitted = good) but I don't know if it's worth spending the extra money for it.

also for dudes looking for style tips, fitted everything (note: not necessarily "skinny") is in. any guys looking for well fitted and affordable jeans should check out levi's 513's and levi's 521's (both relatively new cuts).

I have a huge problem that I cant dress nicely when it's above 15 degrees (celsius) since I'm so warm in everything.
Onto topic I'm using mostly button down oxfords with some wool crewneck shirts or polo with thinner v-neck and top it off with a sportscoat. Oh and usually chinos for pants since they are more comfy than jeans.

Considering to add a tie once in a while but I'll be seen as overdressed if I do.

A lot of Winter clearance sales are just ending but they happen like every other week so I recommend waiting for another to pop up. For example,That JCrew peacoat was just marked down 40% till a couple days ago. I don't know where in the US you live, but consider how much wear you would get out of a winter coat this year if its getting warmer in your part of the country. Maybe you could find a dirt cheap coat right as spring gets here or you can put that money into whatever your feeling for spring.

@OP: look at Schott.

I have a Schott "slim fitting wool peacoat" and really like it. good cut for a young guy. here's a pic I took just now:

+ Show Spoiler [pic] +

I'm 6'1'', ~41'' chest and the medium fits nicely. I had the sleeves lengthened a bit, but my arms are weirdly long.

and yea, I almost always pop the collar. keeps the wind out, and it's much easier to cover my neck with a scarf when I don't have to worry about it spilling over the top of my collar.

Andrew Wyeth approves.

also: http://canvas.landsend.com/pp/PeaCoat-80679_213735_-1.html?cm_mmc=BizRate-_-null-_-Canvas-_-data_feed (it's really cheap; you could buy and have tailored if necessary)

While we're on the subject of peacoats, what do you use when you need to transport books or documents? A backpack would look silly, so that's obviously out, and I think a briefcase would be far too formal (we're talking about peacoats, not suits here). I'm thinking of getting one of those bags that go over the shoulder (not sure what they're called). But even then, I'm not sure... and I'm not too sure where to look to find good ones either -- a frayed bag from American Eagle won't work..

Any suggestions?

I fully approve of this post.

Fit is everything. Don't be afraid to bring your old boxy clothes to a tailor and get them fitting right. It's relatively cheap and can bring you from looking ridiculous to a million bucks. As mentioned in this post, the Levi 521 are an excellent jean for those of us with athletic thighs who still want a tapered leg opening.

I would like to add: do not buy square toe shoes. They look horrible. Furthermore, brown is the new black. Avoid black unless you are suiting up for a very professional meeting, attending a black tie event, or going to a funeral.

I think black pairs well with almost every colour, looks nice on everyone, and it's clean. But why is it that everyone that's into fashion seems to hate black for some reason? -.-

If were talking college, I think backpack is fine especially if you are on a school with a true campus in fact a briefcase would look goofy. The bag thing you are talking about would be good too. Kinda like a laptop bag but not I know what you mean, a nice leather one would be dope and would work even after school.

Maybe like that. It's expensive but it will last forever.

I just recently picked up a charcoal-colored peacoat for this winter, and I have been loving it. It's really warm, considering how cold it gets here (Northern Utah, if you were wondering). I'm really considering getting different colored scarves to wear with it, as the only one I have right now is brown and white. Any ideas?

just go backpack, you'll look like an idiot with anything else.. the clothes don't make the man, the man makes the clothes...

protip, a guy wearing anything other than black or dark greyish peacoats are ridiculous... girls wearing anything but black white and grey are weird.. i don't think bright red peacoats or blue look good on girls.. of course i also don't think that anything but black suits look good on guys either..

wow third protip inc, don't buy from macys, go to nordstrom or armani and drop the proper 400 or 500 dollars for a quality coat, anyone who knows what they're looking at will know the difference
Have you considered the MMO-Champion forum? You are just as irrational and delusional with the right portion of nostalgic populism. By the way: The old Brood War was absolutely unplayable
