This might be a slightly... Off question.
But I really like the looks of the peacoats posted in the 2nd page of the thread.

JWD going in with a strong medium-sized fashion push

However... My girlfriend has this thing with buttons... Not joking, my girlfriend can't touch buttons without getting severe nausea and massive shivers.* So naturally a peacoat like the one in JWD's pic is out of the question. So what I'm asking, I guess, is if there are peacoats without the buttons? Or at least jackets that have a reminiscent style minus the buttons.

It wouldn't be a pea-coat without buttons, they do make wool coats with zippers opposed to buttons, not nearly as cool though. My question is, what do you wear for pants?

I don't claim to know anything about fashion. I only popped in here because the thread's been on top of General for like . . forever . . but why the beard? Why would it go well with the jacket?

I think I'm muscular enough to make it work, but I also feel like these don't work quite as well with people who have wider shoulders, ie me.

I'm also a little worried about what chen said, but I'm also not TOO worried, mostly because I'm not totally in love with these, they just seemed interesting in an otherwise seemingly bland few pages of eBay jackets. :-p

Definitely open to suggestions.

thought I might as well post this. if anyone's curious about the best hair products, you should check out a company called Gatsby. you can get their hair wax for pretty cheap on amazon and it's amazing stuff. I have THICK AS FUCK hair (not even kidding when I say every hairdresser I've ever been to says I have the thickest hair they've ever seen) and Gatsby Moving Rubber hair wax is the only stuff I've ever found that holds my hair for more than ten minutes.

Those things are notoriously bad. They will not look good on you. They never look good on anyone. They look cool in those pictures because of the mannequins they're and because they've been placed in just the right way to look good.

Seriously, it's actually cliche how often these things get brought up.

Don't buy them.

Not gonna lie. My best friend's gf bought him this jacket so ofc I tried it on. It's shit tier everything. The buttons around the collar are actually plastic, the fabric feels bad, and the fit is off. It fit better on me because I'm of a smaller build, but it's got a bad fit overall. Don't bother with this particular jacket.

it's almost impossible to dress without buttons...the solution here is to get your gf in therapy for that phobia, or to always undress yourself and avoid PDA

as jamesr points out, it's not a peacoat without buttons. actually, any proper winter coat (and almost any proper coat period) has buttons. zippers are very informal.

time to put your foot down about the button thing mayne!

@boes: please post more pics of the blazer (when you have it altered/on)! looks promising, but cant' get a good sense of style/fit from that photo.

where do you go thrifting? do you have any advice for a total thrifting noob like me? I can pick out quality brands/knockoffs/decent fabric+construction alright, but I am unsure where to look. is there a particular line of thrift shops that you find tends to have better stuff? every store I've walked into has seemed totally picked over.

Would a pair of for instance red wings heritage collection (beckmans)/1000 mile boot/indy boot be good choice for every day wear with jeans/chinos etc? or should I look into something else?
