This whole thread is a dick measuring contest and posting of lots of overpriced items recently. Women's fashion i can grasp some of the concepts and where some of the expensive items derive their value. These clothes many of you are posting are $300 for a fucking t-shirt. I don't care how the wrinkles look, there is no shirt worth this much. There is no way to derive $300 in value from a t-shirt. Its not a one of t-shirt... Anyways I have stopped looking in this thread all together. For a while there were some good posts about formal wear and accessories for that but not really much anymore.

"Women's fashion i can grasp some of the concepts and where some of the expensive items derive their value. "
same shit applies to men's fashion. get your head out of your ass.
people spend money on hobbies they like, who knew? for example: games, advanced gaming comps, cars, food
these all costs a significant amount of money if you wish to invest into your hobby.

That's why on SF there are two boards, one for formal wear and one for street wear

Nobody's stopping you from posting/discussing formal menswear. Speaking of that, I'm split on ordering some EG Galways or some C&J Conistons, it'd be great if someone gave me a ballpark on how good the quality is for C&J benchgrade. I don't need a comparison between the two (they obviously appeal to two completely different pricepoints), but some pros and cons of C&J benchgrades would be nice.

If the price tag is an issue for you, high end fashion is simply not for you,

Its not only a matter of monney, its also a matter of taste. This piece of clothing looks absolutely horrible. Are people seriously buying that and walking around with it?

Yes, alot of people walk around with hoodies. I am quite surprised by the fact that you havent noticed that,

I think its more the fact that it goes down to his knees which makes it seem more uncommon than that its a hoodie.

The model is quite short and wears a waay to large size to make it look more avant garde. If you buy the right size it will fit like a regular hoodie except 10 times more comfortable and sturdier.

Why would they advertise it looking so ridiulous then?

I like this coat but I can't find it and I'm pretty sure it was released for that season only. + Show Spoiler +

I'm being serious.
and it's still going to be a long hoodie, just much less dramatic than the picture shows.

I've never heard of muji or ilu... but I tried shopping at h&m and j. crew last weekend. I couldn't find a single pair of pants that fit over my thighs in the entire store - and my legs aren't even as big around right now as they usually are. Can you think of any stores with a similar style that aren't on this ridiculous "skinny everything" kick at the moment?

dockers for pants assuming you have a boxier build, land's end and brooks brothers
those stores tend to have less slim cuts, at least, off the top of my head

I'm actually rather slimly built. I'm a rugby player and a weight lifter though, and so although I've got a narrow waist I've got decently broad shoulders, long legs and big glutes/thighs. I don't expect to find things that are perfect off the rack, but when I checked those stores I couldn't even find anything close enough to be worth altering. The skinny/fitted stuff is great for shirts though!
I'd like to take a look at brooks brothers, but the nearest one is ~6 hours away, and I won't buy online until I know how the store's clothing generally fits. I'll check lands end.

try tapered cuts like n&f weird guys, Norse Projects and Our Legacy tend to be more forgiving in the chest and the waist as well.

I'm floating around 200 pounds with a 30 inch waist. I'm a decent size, but I'm not a big guy. And I carry a disproportionate amount of it in my legs - I almost never have trouble with shirts. If I ever do, it's about sleeve length, not chest or shoulders. I'll definitely check out those brands, though I've never heard of any of them. Thanks.
