Homestuck is a webcomic styled as an adventure game, with Flash and interactive segments.

It can be read starting from the front page ( http://www.mspaintadventures.com/ ) and is one of the most prolific comics ever made with over 4000 pages including Flash content, and it updates usually with multiple pages per day.

It follows the story of four kids and later other characters who set out on an epic multiple-universe spanning adventure. Often the best parts of the comic are done in several-minute Flash animations. Here is one from early in the comic which should give you an idea of the scale it reaches:

[S] WV: Ascend from Homestuck Act 2, 'Explore' by George Buzinkai and Michael Guy Bowman

Almost everything in the comic is done by one man, Andrew Hussie, but there is a team of about 20 musicians who create the soundtrack to the comic now consisting of several hundred original tracks.

'Savior of the Waking World' by Toby 'Radiation' Fox

The story gets quite complex but is very rewarding in depth and consistency. It is also very funny. While not necessary to understand the story at all, sometimes it references the previous comics done by the same author, notably Problem Sleuth.

http://www.mspaintadventures.com/

For anyone who is up to date, the next update is expected on 11/11 with Act 6.

This is such a good comic with a great story, it deserves a lot more attention.

I love HomeStuck. I started with Problem Sleuth, which I REALLY loved.

I think Andrew Hussie is getting a little too focused on the animation though. Animations are neat, but honestly, I would rather read Karkat's pesterchat logs than watch flash animations.

I feel like Homestuck is a bit too ambitious. Problem Sleuth was just perfect. HS is still easily one of my favorite webcomics though.

Problem Sleuth was my personal favorite. But Homestuck is definitely amazing.

I think he said that would be the longest animation. A normal length one (like [S] Attempt .. showdown recently) took him almost no time.

The format of the comic is designed so he can express the ideas in his head in the shortest possible time (he sacrificed his art skill for the current draw-fast look [which still looks good though]) so even he doesn't want to keep on with the long breaks.

I don't read homestuck, but they have some of the most amazing music ever.

Here is a great homestuck playlist I put together. Cascade is a really long remix of all their masterpieces, so you might want to check that out.

My favorite is Rex Deodecim Angelus.

Yes that is my first image I should have credited it.

http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/ is where you can listen to every track for free (officially).

http://homestuck.bandcamp.com/album/alterniabound has the highest density of 'good' tracks if you're overwhelmed by the amount, or that playlist.

Rex Duodecim Angelus is close to my favourite (Skaian Skirmish and Descend are that) but I thought the one I linked was more accessible. I thought R.D.A. was an OK song until I understood what it meant months later when I got around to reading.

I thought Cascade was 50% original, 25% Savior and 25% Black Rose, Green Sun? Cascade is not a remix of Descend.

So... the scratch was basically a big reset switch...

I'm really curious how this will play out. HomeStuck has already been going, what, two years? Hitting reset at this point feels kinda crazy haha. Hopefully updates will be fast and frequent now... it'll be fun to see where things go.

I hope its ok to bump this thread. seeing as its quite old, but there have been some really interesting developments recently in the comic.

What do the people of TL think about new jack noir/flashy guy? Do you think he's going to turn into Lord English (i.e. LE appears through a proxy in every universe) or that he will merely be a servant to caliborn? Also the fact that the kids are all sitting (sleeping earlier) on their quest beds leads me to believe that some shit is about to go down. Although given the badassitude with which dirk has handled other potential fuckups, maybe he'll be able to keep them all alive (or kill them and all ascend to god tier, I suppose that would work too). I'm anxious to hear a few more opinions on the matter, given that there are so many options.

Just found this thread, never really thought about checking for Homestuck stuff on TL for some reason. Hope it's okay to necro this so badly, but I think this is better than creating a whole new thread still?

Now definitely seems like a good time to bring it back too, now that we're actually back to kinda regular updates, and are even getting kinda close to the end maybe!

Whoa okay, what the hell is a sprite prototyped with a sprite going to do?? And apparently it makes them have legs again for some reason? Even after all this time, Homestuck still somehow manages to surprise with stuff like this, haha!

Wow, I posted that almost four years ago and it couldn't be more true today. I only check HomeStuck every few months now when I get a chance. I always have to try my best to remember what was happening (which would still be hard to keep track of even if you marathoned it and were actually pretty dedicated to figuring it out). And I still think the animations are just flashy ways of moving plot forward fast (and so they aren't that interesting). It's funny that even so long ago it seemed too ambitious, and here it is still going!

AND the best moments were still the old chat logs. Especially Karkat yelling at himself.

I dunno, for my part I think it's done a pretty great job of living up to that ambition! I enjoy the fact that it actually requires a bit of effort to try to keep track of everything and know what's going on, and yet even if you don't try to do that it can still be really fun! The whole of Act 6 Act 6 so far has been great in my opinion.

Really starting to wonder what Alt!Calliope is up to here with showing herself like this, and even seeming like she's lighting everything up, too. Maybe she isn't worried about getting found anymore?
