Found out a lot of people adblock TL, it's oh so sad.so many selfish people in this thread. please close it, it's ridiculous to see the number of elitists in here who feel entitled to free everything and yet complain about the very things that TL really has no obligation to provide them.

If TL offered other models of support, many of the people posting about adblock would gladly use them. For example; I would rather directly pay TL the money they would get from my advertising impressions then look at those advertisements. Does using adblock mean I'm not willing to support TL financially? No. Does it mean I would like them to implement a different model of support? Yes. This is the equivalent of going to a restaurant, eating a big meal, and then refusing to pay for it because you are philosophically opposed to money. You would rather compensate for the food by giving something you deem far more valuable, like a poem or 5 minutes of Minesweeper coaching. Team Liquid supports itself via advertising. The vast majority of people here find this to be an ideal solution since it incurs no real cost on them. Rather than petulantly insisting that TL cater to your personal moral objections to their business model, a sensible person would just unblock the ads and be grateful. At the very least, you could opt not to visit TL until they offer an alternative, if you are that viscerally against advertising.

Actually TL supports itself through merchandising, sponsorships and advertising.

There are other forms of supporting it... ads is just one way of doing so... but other ppl might be buying shirts and such...

I turned it off because I want to support TL, but for whatever reason with how the ad banner works it causes a very noticeable lag whenever I change to a different thread or a different page in a thread. If it didn't do that then yes I would turn adblock off. Loading times become noticeably longer, that sucks. If ads would be injected after page load, that would be so much better. I am blocking ads for TL against my desire. I use noscript, but I can't seem to disable it for TL and TL-embedded content, which is the way I would like it. I only have the option to block per domain of origin, which includes ad servers, for security reasons (which I would ignore for TL's sake).

So you only get benefits from not seeing the ads.

I said that viewing/clicking ads when you have absolutely 0 interest in them and costing the advertisers money is an issue as well. I posted earlier in the thread explaining how my adblock works on TL, it's been turned off for a few days now. It is kinda sad how this thread turned into exactly what some people were saying; this elitist attitude that if you have ad block off you're somehow above people that have it on. Everyone who posts here, adblock or not, helps team liquid grow indirectly by increasing the size of the community. People attract people and even if most of the people that are being attracted to the crowd have ad block on, a good portion will choose to disable it (or don't have it at all). Anyway, I'll stop and just say you're post is wrong.
