You produce a sculpture by cutting away excess material.

i see, glad everything worked out for her. She's got talents and able to support herself, hence she can afford to fuck over her dad. I guess she actually thought this through first. Think about it, she hold on to this evidence, feed off her dad till she's financially stable by herself, and then repay her dad who fed her for 20 years by ruining him. Pretty sweet revenge

Maybe she knew what would be coming, the punishment doesn't always follow immedeatly after the "crime" is found out, maybe her mother found out what she was doing and told her that she'll tell her father when he'll be back from work in the evening.

Also this brought back memories. *Sigh* good times lol. I remember doing the exact same thing she did. Took 15-20 lickings to my legs because I wouldn't give my parents my ass to be beat. Legs hurt 10x more so I don't know why I ever did it. This isn't bad at all. There's really no mental scars. You'll be hurting for the next 2-3 days but really that's all. She's not even really crying at all towards the end. And the parents do explain why she got beat and why they were upset with her.
Its not as big of a deal as people are making it out to be. Last beating I had was 14. My younger sister was 16 because she did something really stupid. All in all instilled discipline/made me learn. Have nothing against my parents for beating me. 99% of the beatings I got I KNEW I did something wrong.
I'd say 75% of my CLOSE family members cousins/uncles/aunts are heavy into drugs or in prison doing LONG sentences. Varying from drug trafficking to killing of their wife. Grew up in a bad part of town. I remember hearing jokes when I was younger from family about me being beat with the belt by my dad and how they were going to send their kids to live with us so they would learn to behave. I actually thank my parents for beating me looking back at things and comparing myself to the people I grew up with that were never touched.
<3 Rearing the Asian stories btw.
It's not really the beating that was disturbing so much as it was what the guy was saying and how he was saying it while doing it.

My concern is is she acting for the camera? Is she trying to make it seem worse than it is, I mean it would have seemed better if she had just bent over the bed. She is without a doubt provoking her parents. By refusing to obey. Now personally I think she is in the right refusing, I have no problem with hitting a child as punishment but a 16 year old is not a child. But it is something to think about, she planted the camera, she is intentionally inflaming the situation, is it a stretch to think she might be exaggerating everything a little? Don't get me wrong I do think the parents are way out of line and something should be done to them. But it is something to consider all the same.

Her daughter, Hillary Adams told us today she uploaded the video on October 27th to bring attention to the problems she says she had when she was younger. "My father's harassment was getting really bad, so I decided to finally publish the video that I had been sitting on for 7 years," Adams said. That's just for the press. The American press/news always has a hard on for political correctness. You can't really say anything without there being week long castings if your senator or congressman that was politically incorrect on what ever issue. Him being a judge gets some prime time on the Internet maybe news later on.
Take a look at her room. Fancy computer, big wooden desk and chair, a decent amount of books on the her book shelf, a Bart Simpons poster along with two other posters that appear to be some sort of anime. CLEARLY she's abused and her parents don't love her enough to buy her things. Not to say that buying material things for your child means in absolute that they love her to death. But it takes into account the fact that they care enough to buy her things that she might like/have asked for.
She really wasn't abused - not based on this video. If she's butthurt now its more than likely due to other reasons. Maybe jumping the gun here, but so is everyone else crying ABUSE. Friends I know that were beaten as kids that I still talk to openly joke about being beat whenever the topic comes up - as do I. You learn.

No offense my friend, but I don't think you ever got beat like the girl did in the beginning, and then had your dad leave and then come back again because "he didn't get his real licks in." The guy is fucked up, period. He's also a "judge." Someone who attests to being of good moral character, sound mind, and clear judgement. You think that's what he was exercising in this situation? I don't think so.

100% accurate. Regardless of what you think of corporal punishment, the guy is clearly not in control of his actions. I mean he is, but he is acting out of rage, not out of love (true discipline only comes out of love I think) or a desire for his daughter to be a better person. He's just fucking pissed and wants to beat his kid.

I think the last sentence really nails it. For the sake of clarity lets assume the child is a duplicitous thieving liar and the father is generally level headed. Even in this potential reality it should be impossible for the girl to provoke her father into this behavior. He literally says he is going to beat her into submission. I understand why entrapment offends rei (which I think he assumes this is) but even if there was no camera the beating still would have happened and it would still be just as wrong. A judge shouldnt be doing things that will make him lose his job in public or in private.

Before I say anything else, I need to make clear that I don't agree with the actions of the man.
Yes, corporal punishment (i.e. spanking) is a part of many households; for many families, its simply how parents enforce their rules and control their kids. Whether this method is effective or the best is an entirely different topic. Some people will say that it helped them and others (such as myself) will say it was not a positive influence even in the long run.
However, putting that aside, I think there comes a point where every parent needs to realize "Hey, my son/daughter is just too old/big for me to be spanking them, or attempting to beat them into submission". The girl in the video is 16 years old. Personally, I feel that is well beyond the age/maturity that someone needs to be physically punished. Regardless of the severity of the beating, 16 is just too old in my opinion. There are far more rational ways to punish the daughter (take away other privelages, put the computer in the middle of the house where everyone can see what she's doing, etc). Poor decision making by the father.
She did get belted pretty hard, and I feel like excessive punishments only breed resentment in children for their parents. I personally got belted/whipped a lot, and as a result, I drew myself away from a normal parent-child relationship.
It's really unfortunate that these kinds of situations exist in the world, and we should all think about how many thousands of families have similar/worse conditions. I hope justice is served.

I understand that most people have their reasons for their believes depending on what they been exposed to, but I would like to share my point of view.
When I was still little, after my day tried to discipline me with a belt, my mom told him: "If you ever lay your hands on our children again, I will leave you". My dad is a bit of a power freak and I dont know how our lives would turned out if he did try it again. One thing I know, that I most grateful to my mom and dad and they have my total respect to how they raised me and my sister.
You will have hard time trying to raise a child that doesn't do what you want if in your family moral or physical abuse was the way to go. We all have to try to be better and more understanding human beings, even in this crazy world.

I think she sealed her own faith here. She could have just bended over and gotten on the bed and it would have ended much faster. And her parents already warned her before hand not to pirate stuff, and as a judge who hopefully knows the price of pirating stuff, he punished her accordingly. And her video taping it beforehand is a bit sketchy.
Although I agree she did deserve a little bit, she definitively didn't need all of those blows, and some of them looked pretty hard too. He should have taken her computer away from her after.
|
I like how some posters try to justify corporal punishment with their own experiences. Saying things like "I was hit a few times growing up, it wasn't that bad." "Physical punishment isn't as bad as you make it out to be, I was spanked a few times."
Please..how can you compare getting spanked a few times to a man full out belting someone with their full force?

This sort of point just makes me laugh. It can be easily pointed the other way, saying that she's been abused repeatedly in the past before. Enough to know that it was likely to happen again, and that she should take measures against it. It's obvious that this is not a first time thing.

That's not how any proper justice system works. You don't convict based on public opinion. I am certain the man has paid leave because it is standard procedure any time a judge is accused of misconduct. You have to determine guilt before you are allowed to destroy a person's career.
