So my band just played a show with these guys on Saturday in Chicago and HOLY CRAP talk about an entertaining show. I had never heard of them before, but man can they rock the house!
Sort of remind me of a funky old school R&B version of the Aquabats.
They keep their real identities a secret, but are all amazing musicians. They are based out of Nashville and rumor has it, have 3 grammy winners in the band. Has anyone else here heard of them/ know who any of the musicians in the band are? The horn players are INSANE.
Actually, The Mummies from the 90s are a very different band. Here Come the Mummies formed in 2000 with no knowledge of the garage-punk band The Mummies.'

Exactly! They are so damn tight on stage, and run around like crazy! Seriously world class performance and they completely avoided my radar until now. The videos posted are mild compared to their live show. The lyrics are pretty much 100% sexual innuendo and hilarious. Never seen a group of musicians have so much fun on stage before, which is kind of why I wanna find out who they actually are in real life.

Makes sense, already found it a bit strange that they changed up their style that much. So anyway, you were playing together with them? Did you have to wear a mummy suit as well? ^^

Haha, I WISH I had a costume. Crazy story actually: My band got the call at like 3PM that day because House of Blues needed an opener for HCTM. I guess the other opener bailed or got booted. Half of my band was out in the suburbs for the weekend, but once I found out who we were opening for I convinced them all to do anything possible to get to the city by 6:30 (Sound check). I rented a uhaul (they own the cars, I bike) and loaded my entire band's (5 piece) gear (3 tube amps, 3 half stacks, drum kit, etc) by myself and got to the venue with JUST enough time to load, setup, and finish soundcheck 3 minutes before the doors opened.
It was the most hectic show I've ever been a part of but we ended up playing a 45 minute set to a sold out crowd at House of Blues in Chicago. Totally insane for how small potatoes my band is. Crowd really seemed to enjoy our set, despite being a very different genre. (Which is good cause I heard some of HCTM's openers have been boo'd if they aren't funky) Watching HCTM perform made me realize how much my band needs to work on showmanship, that's for damn sure, haha.
Anywho, if anyone is interested my band's name is The Second and we are based out of Chicago. Here is our very bare-bones Facebook page with a recent recording: https://www.facebook.com/thesecondmusic

Sounds like good times, haha :-D And good job on getting the crowd pumped!
Yeah these guys are a pretty big deal so I hear. My girl has seen em twice around here. (Cincinnati) I heard em on Bob and Tom a while back when they did the "cowbelt" skit, pretty good stuff. I don't care for the music style but they are badasses at what they do for sure.
My mom likes these guys a lot :p Definitely not bad, and, as others have said, they are very talented and play good music regardless of whether or not you are into this kind of genre.
