Nuclear is renewable, and cheap. I really couldn't care less about costs for nuclear energy from a country thats regulating the crap out of it to keep it from popping up. Where did you get the idea that nuclear power was cheap? He's actually right about nuclear power being low-cost. The issue is that it has extremely high upfront capital requirements. http://nuclearfissionary.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/total-cost-electricity-production-per-kwh.jpgThis graph is from: http://nuclearfissionary.com/2010/04/02/comparing-energy-costs-of-nuclear-coal-gas-wind-and-solar/This is clearly a pro nuclear site so they may devalue the cost of decommishing but the per kwh production numbers are in line with many others I have seen so I'm not looking for another source at 1 am. These are good enough for the point: once you have nuclear it is cheap. They also have per kwh) Nuclear: $0.019 Coal: $0.027 Natural Gas: $0.081 Wind:$0.030 Hydroelectric: $0.009 Solar: No estimate found Yeah, once you have the massive government subsidies, limited liability and an already operating plant it's cheap. :|
Some estimates place coal subsidies higher than nuclear per kwh. The problem is it's nearly impossible to follow all the money governments are throwing around. The energy economy is a complicated system and I have a nuclear engineering degree. We spent a lot of time discussing different energy sources and their pros/cons. I'm not working in the industry so I have no interest in telling you nuclear is great. I personally would love if more of our energy came from solar, geothermal, and wind, but nuclear IS one of the safest and cheapest sources of energy as of today. Taking into account all civilian nuclear accidents in the history of the world, nothing compares to nuclear's safety. You can do some research yourself on the matter. I believe you'll find what I say is true.
My point is, do some real research before you make an unsupported claim. If you want to

Sad the problem with the nuclear waste. Would be the perfect power source to solve all problems.
I have no idea about the magnitude of nuclear waste produced, but it would be nice if we could shoot that shit into outer space, wouldn't it ? Not sure if it's possible.

Head desk No no it would be a very poor idea to do that. From the fundamental failure of an idea of lowering the amount of mass the earth has to the possibility of fission reactions reusing the waste. They constantly are getting better at mashing a lot of the waste together and then reusing it.
its actually a very good target for terrorist attacks. thank god they're all incompetent.

It's not actually, the fuel in nuclear power plants isn't even the same as in nuclear bombs, like Iran is now at the stage where they can make nuclear power plants but nuclear bombs, there's no risk of a Hiroshima explosion from a power plant.
And shooting waste into space gets rid of the efficiency from nuclear since it takes so much energy to get to space.
Anyway right now nuclear is the cleanest most efficient form of energy, new forms of solar wind or geothermal might overtake it though.

Apparently the Boston Police Department thinks that performing mass arrests and destroying tents, and signs at night means nobody is watching.

EDIT: Expect this to go viral as the cops are beating veterans.

Blatant disrespect for personal property. I can't believe it. I've been watching it. There are youtube videos popping up from inside the park.

Boston police department know beating peaceful protesters and performing mass arrests; There was no real warning, they simply surrounded the protesters, and then told them they were going to arrest them. Here is the government silencing the people's protest of big business and political corruption.

I know its not the same. While the construction of a nuclear bomb is actually easier then you might think thats not what I had in mind.
just rig a nasty dirty bomb in a truck with half of this nuclear waste and half actual explosive. drive it to a large collection of people and blow it up. Bam you've now irradiated hundreds or thousands of people who will die now and the nation will have to sit and watch them die slowly while they think about why it happened. If thats not a better terrorist attack then making dead heros out of police and firefighters while killing peoples bankers then I really need to get out of the terror industry... oh wait. SHIT I'm on the FBI watch list now arn't I?
The government has done a lot of red flag assaults on the nuclear reactors and they havn't fared very well to be honest. A terrorist cell of suicidal people assault the place get to the reactor controls and follow the pre planned instructions or the given instructions from a third off site party to drive the reactor into meltdown would do a hell of a lot of damage.
Edit:And police did warnings of the park after setting up the perimeter. They're forcing everyone off the park and cleaning up the tents and signs (you can see a lot of garbage trucks) Smart doing it at night. Gives them time to react to situations and have a good story of it on the morning news. What are the news organizations going to trust longtime police or a bunch of chaotic protesters? If people aren't aware of their city ordinance they deserve the consequences. So funny that they're getting people to call the numbers when they all already know and where probably told a few hours ago.

Yeah and beating peaceful protesters, who are veterans, will just heighten the amount of shit that will hit the fan.

"We're mad!"
Politicians can't do anything despite all the bravado. Honestly.
"We're mad!"
Scrooge McDuck doesn't care.
I'm mad. This situation sucks.

because they're hippies.

Can't actually tell what's going on from grainy streams but if they are arresting people in Boston and the protesters were not breaking the law (loose interpretations of pointless laws don't count, I mean attacking people etc.) Then more shit needs to happen in Boston. That's unacceptable.

yeah, what do laws besides murder and assault mean anyways..

wtf is your fail logic? Hippies != War Veterans...
That doesn't even fucking compute!
