I know I might be stupid for asking, but can someone explain this? If consumption is going down, that means demand is going down and since production is going up, there is more supply. Wouldn't that mean less money for oil? I know this is a simple economics question but I've really never been good at economics.

Ahhh...I haven't taken economics classes yet, (I plan to next year or the year after) so I'm not really sure about much of the economic stuff going on in the world. Thanks for the help.

You claim that these relationships are somehow fundamentally "unhealthy," which is the same type of argument conservatives use against gay marriage. This is why I brought this issue up in my original post. There is so much hypocrisy in the homosexual marriage movement. ? Eh, not really. I think polygamy just has different issues. Polygamy is closely associated with misogyny and pedophilia. And that's why it's not really liked. It's not like gay marriage has any of those associations, so why would the gay marriage movement bring it up? In a society where women are equal to men, like now, I don't see an issue with Polygamy. I don't really think historic polygamy is a good gauge, because women were always treated as inferior. But it's not like homosexual marriage movement is necessarily against polygamy. They just know that it doesn't have the associations that polygamy does. I mean do you really see proponents of gay marriage talking about why polygamy is terrible?

Thanks for the help. The instability in the middle east and threat of the strait of Hormuz being closed are what's driving up oil prices. Regardless of current supply and demand, what they're paying attention to is future expectations. If you can't reliably predict the future, then the added risk drives up prices. On top of that, there has been an on going shortage of oil refineries which limits production of gasoline.
