The reason NASA isn't going anywhere is that nobody wants to pay to make it go anywhere. Because politicians aren't willing to sell it to people back home. If they worked 1/10th as hard to sell NASA spending as they do to distance themselves from Obama, I guarantee it would get a lot more support.

I'm under the opinion that debates are an opportunity to highlight who the debate organizers think are most popular. And by putting certain people in the centre and giving them more time to talk, they create more popular. South Carolina debates case in point. Last two primary's Gingerich bombed and Santorum and Ron Paul did excellent. Which debate ever shifted those two to centre stage? But they chose to use the upcoming polls instead.

Ron Paul has never been a very good public speaker imo. He rambles and goes all over the place

Then start a pool on how long it takes each candidate to attack Obama.

It's not about "winning or losing" debates. It's about the public perception after the fact. In that sense, they aren't even really debates. They're just a stage for running campaign points next to other candidates, so people can properly compare and contrast. Truth of the matter, Santorum and Paul never gain traction regardless of air time.
