I honestly doubt that anyone here other than you and me browses drudge.

Well, Drudge is like the 7th or 8th most-viewed site on the internet, so I bet that there are a few others. Besides, there really isn't a better 1-stop place for news.

I seriously doubt Drudge is that highly viewed over all the porn sites and search engines.

This is one of the worst field of candidates I've seen in awhile, it's like a circus in a bad dream and this is coming from a moderate.

Seriously though if the economy keeps healing I don't see a way Obama loses.

Actually drudge is an incredibly highly viewed sights. It's similar to slashdot in that being linked at drudge causes several shut downs a year of websites that aren't used to the traffic. I believe drudge was the first source for the monica lewinsky scandal.

Better one stop place for news though? I'm not so sure. It's a pretty biased news sights especially in its photo selection and headlines. I don't really appreciate about how he can so often guide discussion, but I have to admit he's fucking good at what he does.

edit: i'm not saying it's more highly viewed that porn/search sites, but i'm pretty sure you're underestimating the traffic/impact drudge has.

There was just a news story out a few months ago that Drudge drives more news traffic than facebook + twitter combined. I'd highly doubt if there weren't at least a minimum of 100 people on TL that browses Drudge and I'm one of them.

Anyone hear about Romney's attack add on Obama (I know it's not directly related to the primary, since most Republicans might not care, but it could be huge for the for general election
http://www.cbsnews.com/8301-503544_162-57329447-503544/mitt-romney-attack-ad-misleadingly-quotes-obama/

It just makes Romney look really bad, and could really hurt him among independents. (Especially those that already view Conservatives in a negative fashion.)

It's funny how US is so divided. Almost every republican seems completely batshit crazy while the democrats are much closer to what i would call "decent". We have presidental elections coming up in Finland as well and all of the candidates have some good ideas and none of them really stand out that much(apart from the "far right" candidate and christian party candidate maybe). While i do have a clear favourite in out own elections, i don't really care who ultimately goes up there as none of them are crazy like some of the candidates in the US.

To add salt to the wound Fox News actually called him out on it as well as his flips flops and Romney actually got flustered and afterwards said the interview was a hit piece.

Try governing for a country with 60 times the population of Finland and nearly 30 times the land size. That, plus the fact that the country is also historically founded on immigrant populations makes the US a lot less homogeneous than many European countries (especially Scandinavian ones).

Or that the two-party system is nuts.

The two party system is a byproduct of the fact that we are a Constitutional Republic rather than a Parliamentary system. The Constitutional Republic is a byproduct of the fact that individual States demanded more solidarity during the formation of the country (plus the fact that we hated the British). Arguably, in a country this large and populous, a Constitutional Republic functions better as a governing system as it diffuses governing responsibility more effectively. Take a look at the Parliamentary system of India for comparison.

The two party-system (or rather the winner take all system) is only different than the multiparty/proportional representation system in that it forces citizens to compromise with each other rather than forcing legislators to compromise with each other.
(ie you have to support a party nominee that is a compromise... ie one that can actually win, if you want your voice to get to the national stage... but once on the national stage, that nominee has less compromising they need to do... hence the "republicrat" insult.)

I think the problem is that we have closer to a one-party system which has caused both sides to diverge farther from the center because neither are happy. There really hasn't been much of a difference between Bush and Obama and neither side is happy with either of them. Really the only thing that is more divided is the rhetoric.
