I think I understand the social-experiment part, or at least a phenomenon that I've observed. People seem to tend to vote on whatever option is leading the poll, regardless of whether it's a smart one or not.

Wise investment in stats could definitely be a redeeming factor, like how Flash makes comeback wins from nowhere by smart defensive micro and harassment.
Example: We spend many turns scouting in hopes of finding weapons/stimulants/radioactive material that will make up for lost time.
Example 2: We invest fully into intelligence until Blue becomes smart enough to find weaknesses in his enemies or read their intentions and therefore predict their movements and dodge them effectively. GG.
