In the normal world, the word par is used to indicate a standard (definition: An amount or level considered to be average; a standard). Can't really explain the origin of this though. I think that too. Par in real life is the standard, and being below the standard means bad. On the other side, at golf, its how the score system works. Golf is about putting the ball in the hole with as less tries as possible. As in real life, par is the average (amount of tries you are given to put the ball in the hole).

"par" means something like average or normal or standard. Most of the time it is bad to be below standard but in golf the par refers to how many shots it should take to finish the course and you want to finish in fewer shots so you want to be below par. Low scores are good in golf. Edit: greenelve beat me to it.

You actually change up to a few cm between morning and evening, as your spine gets compressed as you stand up daytime. So maybe sleep, or stay horizontal, more often? ![]() If it is enough to SEEM taller, proper posture does a lot. Standing straight gives the impression as if you are taller (and more confident etc) than someone of the same height that is hunched over. I have always done sports, and I think that has given me a decent posture. Maybe yoga is the best way to improve your general stance? That kind if exercise is good for you anyway, specially if you spend a lot of time i front of the computer. Could actually even be that you will be taller (in a measurement) if you have better posture, as your spine will be straighter. Not sure about that though. You obviously will want to read up more on this if you plan to pursue it further. :o)

But something that loosens joints or grows bones, even a little bit, would help tremendously.

Maybe wherever I can lay down instead of sit, would at least halt the compression? sounds awfully unpractical for everyday life though. I think the ballon plan has a brighter future and that in itself is quite telling. Might want to start research about internet reception up there. Or you just sign up for the next Nasa spaceprogram!

The only way to get into space is through propulsion.
