How about we use this thread to discuss Firefox 5 and not turn it into the 34892nd Chrome vs Firefox flamewar?

Adblock also allows you to block images that you want, and chore has this ridiculous minimalistic GUI that is not functional, and saves 1cm.

Well, I downloaded it. However Chrome has been winning me over as of late.

How about this one... Out of FireFox, Chrome and IE9, IE9 loads webpages fastest on my setup. How is that even possible :S

thats insane lol, my IE takes about 30-50 seconds to load up when I click on it (no i'm not exagerating). I use Firefox and its instant :D.

Also noxie's a noob ^^.

I gave it a quick go, but I use gdi++ to get OS X style font rendering on Windows, and Firefox must provide its own font rendering because it looks completely different than the rest of Windows/Chrome with gdi++ hooked in. Looks like I'm sticking to Chrome. It's quite a pity though because it does seem to run nicely and looks pretty good.

I really hope FF5 fixes all the issues I've been having with FF4 randomly freezing and forcing me to manually close it down. I'm not sure if it was user error causing this but I am pretty tech savvy and I could find no cause for this - seemed to happen randomly. I've used FF for as long as I can remember so I really don't want to switch but if my issues continue on I'll move on to chrome. *crosses fingers*

Hope they fix some of the issues I've been having with Firefox recently.

1. Flash videos continuing to play even after I've closed their tab, forcing me to end the Firefox Plugin Container on the Task Manager.
2. Tabs opening into new windows when I try to move them but accidentally drag them down. NOBODY FUCKING WANTS THIS FEATURE.
You should not have to pay to watch the GSL, Proleague, or OSL at a reasonable time. That is not "fine" and it's BS to say otherwise. My sig since 2011. http://www.youtube.com/user/dabom88

I've heard that there are some are some awesome browsers beyond the big 5--IE, Safari, Firefox, Chrome, Opera--but I have no idea what they are.

So, obviously a google and wiki search tells me about several other browsers, but can anyone please explain why they would be better than the big 5?

Am I the only one who hasn't moved to FF4 because 3.6 has adblocker working? I can't find any other program that works to block video ads...

So strange. 4->5 one month?

Today, three months after the release of Firefox 4, we release Firefox 5, thanks to our new development cycle.

Huh. Just checked my version. Thought I was using FF4. Interestingly enough. I'm still using 3.6.10. Which 3.6 version is generally the best?

None of em? Pretty crucial security holes fixed in 4.0+, right?

So I just got FF5 updated (I like being able to update within the app, just found out if you go to about->firefox, it starts downloading the update and gives you a button right there)
On boot with 7 simple tabs using 280mb, so not *too* bad I suppose. We'll see if this climbs though back to ~400-500 or so as before.

edit: Nope, back up to 400+mb in a relatively short time. Oh well.

This new ctrl+shift+e stuff is kind of nonsense I think. But I imagine there are people who'd love that.
edit2: apparently this stuff was also in ff4 and I just never noticed lol

Well, then at least a way to disable the feature.

I'll check it out, Firefox 4 on Linux is definitely is lacking in terms of desktop environment integration, couldn't even give us an orange Firefox button, we had to edit a config file to change it from gray :'(

EDIT: Left out the word 'Linux' in that somehow

I use it to put streams in their own window in order to move them to a second monitor all the time. I also never have the issue of accidentally detaching a tab while moving... how far do people move the mouse down, it seems very forgiving :/

For the record, I found Firefox 4.0/4.1 not much of a speed improvement over 3.5/3.6. However, I'm noticing a significant speed increase with Firefox 5.0. Nice stuff.

This is actually really useful for me, I use it all the time with two monitors at least.
