Keep it civil guys.
Alright I am sick of warning people: Trolling, flame baiting, and derailing will result in insta bans. The same goes for conspiracy theorists and stupidity generally.
Confirmation was as follows - On-site DNA test which came back as 99% positive. - photos of face sent to CIA and confirmed with photo analysis - confirmed by 20 year old wife who live in pakistan.
This thread is specifically dedicated to the details surrounding the raid/his death. |

The US govt has killed a ton more people than Osama, but I guess non-american lives just aren't worth shit. Coming from the guy who's living in Afganistan...... I don't get how is that relevant. He is a civilian like me and you, and he has a point. Look how many wars United States started, and how many lives they killed. I'm just saying. I respect that, but name 3 wars that WE started thats had tons of collateral damage to civilians. Iraq? Iraq had no ties to 9/11, at all. This was kind of confirmed a long, long time ago. What was it, close to a million deaths so far on their side, or is that Iraq/Afghanistan combined? You could argue Vietnam considering we had no place to be there etc. Those are the 2 wars i think we should have never gotten into. But you cannot change the past. Iraq was a stupid war
You ask for examples, you receive them, but you disregard them. "Oh those wars don't count, they were stupid LOLOLOL."...Oh you.

Well, I guess Osama shouldn't have entered his address on the PSN.

I think it's great that Obama is taking credit for all of this, he deserves it. Isn't there a way to less blatantly take credit though? This just won him his second term. He's going to take credit as clearly as possible in order to capitalize on it in 2012. Eh yeah I though it was a little blunt. But other than that a good speech. I rather like his bluntness over another dem president's secrecy at pulling the trigger.
I think he deserves to let people know what he's been doing with regards to these situations, especially since he's been getting flak for seemingly doing nothing. Since he apparently has succeeded, awesome.
Incidentally, I hear it was the Seals who got the job done. Any truth to that? If so, baller.
And I'm really glad no americans were harmed in the operations, and civilian damages were minimized (not sure what that means though).

Does this mean US finally gets to pull out of Afghanistan?

Yay!! This is a pretty awesome day to see that a figure head of a terrorist organization has been brought to justice, makes the world a little bit brighter.

lol what is the point of capping him alive? so we can do a ceremonial death trial? the guy was going to die either way...by capping him in the head we save a shitload of court fees.

You'd think, but I highly doubt it.

I don't really see a reason for this euphoria. Obviously Bin Laden was bad, but: 1) Does his death really change that much? Most extremists these days probably are because they saw the western nations wreaking havoc in arabian countries (not always military, often economically), not because of al'Qaida propaganda. There are countless terroristic organisations these days. 2) Other than many leaders, Bin Laden stood up to his ideals -even though those were the obviously wrong ones- and took all the risks. He's coming from a wealthy family, but look at what kind of life he choses (always on the run in some of the poorest areas, beeing chased by killing teams). If that guy just have had the right ideals...
Note: I don't mean to say that killing Bin Laden was bad, it is obviously justified for him to order and organise so many killings. I just want to say that I don't see a reason for beeing that happy about it, revenge alone won't ever help anyone.

This and the "Counter-terrorists win!" post are the best two in this thread.
