But we are not taking their word for it. Our own intelligence services are saying Iran is complying with the terms of the deal.

Ah but it isn't. Iran is supposed to allow "limited access" to military sites if the IAEA wants to inspect them, Iran has declared inspections for such sites are off-limits period. Suspicion is particularly focused on the Parchin military complex outside Tehran, in particular, a high explosive test chamber constructed at Arak in the late 1990s and later moved to Parchin that it has been suspected was constructed and has been used to test implosion designs for a bomb. It isn't just the US government making accusations, the Institute for Science and International Security says access to Parchin should be given by Iran. Iran has said any inspections of Parchin or any other "military site" would be a "red line."

The deal is constructed such that Iran can say "Nope" to any inspection of any self-declared "military site." The terms of the deal are inadequate. They shouldn't get the benefit of the doubt, nor should the ability of Western intelligence agencies be considered adequate with regards to these off-limits sites. Inspections by the IAEA should be taking place in them as well. Again there is no reason to trust any country that declares inspections won't be allowed in certain places.

We would never submit to that. Israel would never allow for unlimited access. A deal based on unfettered access to the entire nation, without exception was never going to happen. No sovereign nation is going to consent to that unless are willing to turn over their defense to the nation they are submitting to. And Iran isn't doing that. These pre-conditions that seem to be be designed to assure we would never reach a deal with Iran.

I will demand Iran to give access to all facilities to the IAEA when the rest of the world has agreed to also stop all of their nuclear program. So, when the USA leads with good example and shoots all of their weaponized plutonium into the sun, they can maybe ask Iran to do the same. Maybe. If they ask nicely. Israel is really funny in this regard. They tell the whole world in a big show, that they stole stuff from Iran, in Iran. Then they show us what they stole. And then they claim, that these documents they stole, are proof of Iran still having a secret nuclear program? And that while they have a secret nuclear program? Nice double standards you have there, Israel.

Looks like the party may be getting started:

Explosions were reported south of Damascus on Tuesday, shortly after the Israeli army announced it believes Iran is planning to carry out an imminent strike from Syria.

A pro-Assad commander said Israeli fighter jets struck a Syria army position south of Damascus, adding that there were no casualties. Syrian state media reported that Syrian air defenses fired at two Israeli missiles, destroying both in the Kisweh area.

The reports come on the heels of U.S. President Donald Trump's dramatic withdrawal from the Iran nuclear deal.

Also Tuesday, the Israeli ordered communities in the northern Golan Heights, near the Israel-Syria border, to open shelters to the public after identifying "unusual movements" of Iranian forces in Syria, the military said in a statement.

The Israeli army believes Iran is making efforts to carry out an imminent retaliation against Israel. Intelligence officers and other specialized forces have been called up, though reserve combat units have not been drafted.

Source.

I really wonder if Iran is actually doing anything or if Israel is just generating excuses to further bait Iran into conflict.

Netanyahu has correctly made the call that the leadership in Congress is toothless and unwilling to do anything of substance, especially if it involves putting checks on the President. They may not be interested in military conflict with Iran, but they won’t oppose the President if he decides to back Netanyahu’s play.

What Netanyahu is doing is quite smart. He correctly realizes that he has strategic and tactical advantages to fight Iran (and even Syria if necessary) right now. For this reason, he can take all sorts of liberties striking Iran.

And I'm not really worried about Trump getting sucked into a war with Iran. He's shown ample resistance to expansive military conflict so far. He's just likes to play hardball with his big military stick.

That was pre-Bolton era Trump. Now his entire foreign policy staff is made up of war hawks and Bush era Neoconservatives how have openly advocated for bombing Iran the same way they advocated for invading Iraq.

Anything is possible.

And that's the rub: it's all speculative hysteria. Remember this tweet from Ben Rhodes?

Looks pretty retarded now, doesn't it?

The point is that Trump is clearly calling the shots on his foreign policy and is largely adhering to the vision that he campaign on. For that reason, the emphasis upon appointing people like Bolton to his cabinet is overblown.

Moon has overcome some incredible obstacles in the NK talks, that much is true. I don’t think anyone could have predicted how successful he has been. As for the rest, I do not share your opinion of competence when it comes to Trump and see him as ripe to be influenced by men like Bolton.

https://www.timesofisrael.com/netanyahu-sets-off-to-moscow-as-tensions-skyrocket-over-iran-syria/
Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu left Israel for Moscow Wednesday morning, saying that his meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin would be focused on “ensuring ongoing military cooperation in Syria.”
...
“I’m leaving first thing this morning to an important meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin,” Netanyahu said in a brief statement before boarding his plane.

“Our meetings are always important, and this one is especially so. Given what is happening now in Syria, it is important to ensure the continued security coordination between the Russian army and the Israel Defense Forces,” he said.

The trip comes after Syrian media reported on Tuesday night that Israel bombed a site south of Damascus, reportedly killing nine pro-Iranian fighters in an area previously identified as the site of a suspected Iranian military base.
syrians claim that they've destroyed some(two) israeli missiles when that bombing occurred. that couldn't have happened(unless random chance nails the dice) without russians giving some tracking/iding codes for those israeli missiles to the syrians(could also be that the russians started to coordinate/run the syrian air defenses) so Netanyahu goes to Putin to ask whatthefuckhappened. based on the (new)deal those two come up with(if any), Israel and Russia could become enemies in Syria(they used to have mutual understandings and mainly ignored each other until now).

Netanyahu brought Trump's balls with him for leverage/to sweeten the pot but if the russians were into nation building in Syria(and they were), shit will end up pretty bad for the whole zone.
And my fury stands ready. I bring all your plans to nought. My bleak heart beats steady. 'Tis you whom I have sought.

Looks like Iran is retaliating against Israel and firing rockets at the Golan Heights. This is about to get ugly.

It's pretty much everywhere, but here's just one:

Some 20 rockets were fired at Israeli military bases by Iranian forces in southern Syria just after midnight on Thursday, with some of the incoming missiles being intercepted by the Iron Dome defense system, the army said, amid sky high tensions on the northern border.

There were no reports of Israeli casualties in the attack. An army spokesperson said damage was caused to Israeli military bases, but that it was “limited.”

The Israeli army said the missile barrage was carried out by members of the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps’ Quds Forces. This appeared to be one of the few instances of a direct attack on Israel by Iran, which generally operates through proxies.

Syrian state media reported that Israeli artillery fire targeted a military post near the city of Baath in the Quneitra border region, where Syrian regime forces were stationed.

The Israel Defense Forces spokesperson confirmed that the army had retaliated to the alleged Iranian attack, but would not comments on the specific details.

It was not immediately clear if this artillery barrage would constitute Israel’s full response to the rocket attack or if additional retaliations by the IDF against Iranian forces in Syria were to come.

“The IDF sees this Iranian attack on Israel with severity,” said IDF spokesperson Lt. Col. Jonathan Conricus.

Looks pretty retarded now, doesn't it?

That's perhaps one of the stupidest things I've ever seen you attempt to argue.

1) We cannot conclude upon the likelihood of a unique event happening using the fact that it happened as our only datapoint. We know that it happened once, we do not know whether it happened based on a 1:1 chance or a 1:100 chance, only that it happened.
2) We cannot conclude that all things that happened before the event happened increased the odds of it happening. Your argument relies upon the impossibility of any negative factors being overcome. "It happened AND Trump tweeted insults, therefore it can only have happened if Trumps insults were a positive factor". The exact same argument could be made for the cumulative weight of Trump's bowel movements. They preceded the peace, therefore they made it more likely.
3) Your argument ignores all other potential factors, which is surprising given that Trump wasn't the guy who made peace with KJI. I would consider the SK President a factor in the peace.
4) Your argument presumes that in a sample size of one a more likely event is certain to happen before a less likely event.

It's not the tweeter that looks retarded xDaunt. It's the same person as always.

Looks like xDaunt isn't continuing this argument.
I postulate that KwarK's rude tone is responsible for this deescalation.

Whoever said we should be civil to each other in these threads looks pretty retarded now.

Kwarks was similar to mine in that Dauntless’s theory excludes all outside factors. From experience, both of them give as good as they get.
