Please guys, stay on topic.
This thread is about the situation in Iraq and Syria. |

Hello guys.
Have you seen the execution of 2 turkish soldiers? It's brutal.
It's funny that Turkey ( and FSA) and Russia (and Syrian regime) are the only solid forces against ISIS and they pay the price.
What happened to all the COMEDY GOLD narratives that Turkey was supporting ISIS and better kicked out of Nato, the great union that fights ISIS, except shameful member, Turkey?
What happened to the GREAT force against ISIS, the angels of the Western world, daily redeemer of the German and US weapons to protect humanity, savior of our futures, the holy Kurds?
Let me tell you that.
Your beloved NATO, or United States we can say, are only doing some air-strikes and providing guns to the Kurds, the guns which pkk only uses against the Turkish army, and busy insisting sending those weaponry despite Turkish warnings, warnings like "Hey buddy, since we are allies, you really need stop sending those anti-tanks to the kurds, and stop believing your own dream that PYD is not PKK, these guns are killing me!" and responds like "We are powerful allies with Turkey and we understand their concerns, we just think different." LOL.
And you know, a policeman of 2 years of service, assassinated Russian ambassador to Turkey last week. Same day and following days we heard some other assassinations as well. But there was no proof that assassin is linked to ISIS. Rather, his family and all the evidence say he was a Gulenist. An amateur with 2 years of service successfully killing an ambassador, with intel of his schedule! Interesting, isn't it? And his phone is encrypted with an application. An application that we used to see in the phones of arrested Gulenist movement members... Where is this Gulen guy? Still under protection of CIA in Pennsylvania, US. But yes, still no evidence that Gulen is a criminal right mister Obama?
And by the way, the divine force of the West, the Kurds are busy recruiting child soldiers and suicide squads to kill more and more Turks, with ISIS style. When was the last time you heard them attacking ISIS, instead of land grabbing from FSA for example?
Turkey and Russia are securing Aleppo, -your so called devils- will probably establish a safe zone within Syria soon, of course, to be returned to Assad one day, in return of destruction of all the separatist and western backed organizations, including the PKK, hopefully. Win/win for the both sides.
And the West, a huge fail. A very, very big fail and a shame...
A side note: I was with a beautiful Spanish lady from Miami when 2 suicide bombers hit Besiktas district, we were in the hotel RC. Not the body parts that fell over the hotel's garden, or me, who lost his ability to hear for a good duration, or my other friend who got his legs cut when explosion broke all the window glasses, you should have seen her tears, begging me to tell her it was not ISIS, they aren't close, we will be okay. You should have seen her. And no, it was not ISIS. We lived another day, by chance.

Poor Russia just can't catch a break in this month, first their ambassador and now this

http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_RUSSIA_MILITARY_PLANE_THE_LATEST?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT&CTIME=2016-12-25-03-37-04 MOSCOW (AP) -- The Latest on the crash of a Russian aircraft with 92 people on board en route to Russia's air base in Syria (all times local):
11:25 a.m.
A Russian official says the crash of a Russian military passenger plane into the Black Sea could have been caused by a technical malfunction or a crew error, but he believes it could not have been terrorism because the plane was operated by the military.
Viktor Ozerov, head of the defense affairs committee at the upper house of Russian parliament, says in remarks carried by the state news agency RIA Novosti that he "totally excludes" terrorism as a possible cause of the crash.
The plane was en route to Russia's air base in Syria with 92 people on board when it crashed shortly after taking off from the resort town of Sochi. At least one body has been found and there is no word on whether anyone survived.
The Defense Ministry has released a list of the passengers. They include 64 members of the Alexandrov Ensemble, among them its leader, Valery Khalilov. The Alexandrov Ensemble is the official choir of the Russian military, and it also includes a band and a dancing company.

Well those plane model Tu-154 was created in 1968 Carl! And it's already moved out from civil usage since president of Poland crashed.

Quite upsetting. I was a fan of some of the people who died there.
The "Syrian Observatory for Human Rights" that is consistently cited by all the Western news sources is just some guy in an apartment in the UK who fled from Syria however many years ago. That should give you some indication of about how much journalistic integrity the Syria coverage has.

UN decided to create a playground for leftists years ago, there are many organizations like HRW under the umbrella, you can find many hardcore leftists including some famous italian women and some soviet-lovers among them. They're usually on twitter and have a huge circlejerk.

Putin announces ceasefire between Syrian government and rebel groups to end the war, Obama complains on his way out.
An agreement to end hostilities in Syria's bloody five-year civil war has been reached, Russian President Vladimir Putin said today.
The deal, signed by the Syrian government and the armed opposition, ends hostilities at midnight local time, he said. Syria's military today said it agreed to the nationwide cease-fire.
"Three documents have been signed," Putin said during a meeting with Russia's foreign and defense ministers. "The first document is between the Syrian government and the armed opposition on a cease-fire on the territory of the Syrian Arab Republic. The second document is a package of measures to control the cease-fire regime. And the third document is a statement on readiness to begin peace talks on the Syrian settlement."
According to The Associated Press, Russia and Turkey will guarantee the truce, Putin said, adding that the parties agreed to meet for peace talks in Astana, the capital of Kazakhstan, a former Soviet republic.
Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu said the truce will include 62,000 opposition fighters across Syria, the AP reported.
The Kremlin said Putin spoke with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan by telephone to discuss the agreement and both "are satisfied."
The U.N. special envoy for Syria, Staffan de Mistura, "welcomes the announcement of a nationwide cease-fire" and "hopes that the implementation of the agreement will save civilian lives, facilitate the delivery of humanitarian assistance across Syria and pave the way for productive talks in Astana," according to a statement from his spokeswoman, Jessy Chahine.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov said U.S. President-elect Donald Trump will be welcomed to join the Syrian peace process after he takes office in January. Source

there's still the Israel matter there. Obama was very pro dual state(Israel-Palestine) and Trump is very pro Israel only. Obama even called back the 2 aegis ships he had there(off Israel coast) that were giving Israel its missile defense shield to close the Iran deal and felt fucked in the rear when he gave Netanyahu the latest arms shipments as per their latest agreement.
Israel used to regularly strike Hezbollah targets in Syria during the war(mainly before that deal with US) and was involved in treating wounded Syrian rebels in their hospitals. Hezbollah obviously matured and grew during its war in Syria(some in Israel see it as an actual threat now and not only as something they could occasionally use for political gain every 4 years or so) and if Trump scraps the Iran deal, things can get really bad really fast.

Obama has been such a prick on his way out. It doesn't even seem like he's doing anything to necessarily help his side. It just seems like he's trashing the goddamn hotel room on the way out.
|
Obama found himself with plans half done in a future he no longer controls; the constant quarrels between the White House and other administration factions during his reign did not help either.

I have plenty of my own reservations about Trump and his administration's plans, but fuck, stop sabotaging a future administration like a petty loser.

You are right. If only Obama was like this during all of his 8 years. That's what his voters wanted and what he was mandated to do; be a prick to the republicans. Look how he handled the supreme court nomination. That was absurd.
Let's hope Obama also manages to tear down the police state he build up. Obama's secret kill list was worse enough. But Trump getting to put his favorite names on it, what will be his limit. If some foreign businessmen from a shady country makes some deal he doesn't like, or worse, insults him, who is to say Trump won't sneak his name on the list. What is the control?
Next step is, we are as bad as Putin. Oh wait, that's not a bad thing, right?

I think he is taking being on the wrong side of history now pretty hard. I don't think anyone remembers a president being more shamefully petty during their last months in office, but at least there will be real hope of the war in Syria finally ending when Trump come into office.
Our nobel peace prize laureate is being thoroughly mocked on both sides of the Atlantic now, its kind of a poetic end to his reign:

dudes, you can eat as much shit as you want about Obama but he was the J.F.Kennedy of his generation.
Edit: i blame most of Obama fuck ups(and there were a good amount of them) on the environment he had to work in.

I have spent far too long ignoring that the person in charge is not free from the faults of the situation he presided over. Obama has received far too much benefit of the doubt in the past and this eleventh hour future-sabotage is as good an indicator as any.

I suppose there's always a way to spin "ending a civil war" into a bad thing.

still, think of it this way - you start an affordable healthcare plan and end up with the monstrosity that is Obamacare (it needed the self-executing rule/deem and pass to be pushed through the house and faced an uphill battle ever since), you nix a CIA plan to remove Assad from power in 2012(face inter-agency disagreements(to put it lightly) ever since), you refuse to start a war in Syria and instead make a deal with Putin/Assad on chemical weapon stockpiles(get screwed ever since in Syria by allies because you're perceived as weak), negotiate an agreement for a peace processes in 2016(get stabbed in the back by russians/Assad/hezbollah + the gulf states: S.A., Qatar, Turkey) and i don't even want to mention his backing of a two state solution for Israel/Palestine since he came into office (the latest US abstention from that UN vote was huge/unprecedented) that received a bitch slap when Obama was more or less forced to sign a new arms deal with Israel(after postponing it for years) just to have Israel fuck off from Syria(Netanyahu is being investigated for alleged corruption cases so maybe that fucker will get what he deserves).
so, i'm saying that his initial/original ideas were well, noble, but he failed (almost)all of them and the ones that have not failed, look bound to fail soon; but even here, you could blame Obama for everything and be somewhat right(after all, he was in charge) but what about thinking that that's all an US president with all the White House power behind him could achieve ...

It also gives formal approval for planned talks to take place in Kazakhstan next week between the Syrian government and opposition.
Russia and Turkey announced the ceasefire this week, the third this year seeking to end the war.
“This is a very important initiative. And the resolution that we adopted today confirms the need to establish and to respect the ceasefire in Syria, as well as it confirms the need to hold a very important meeting in the capital of Kazakhstan,” said Russia’s ambassador to the UN, Vitaly Churkin.
The UN resolution also calls for the “rapid, safe and unhindered” access to deliver humanitarian aid throughout Syria.
However some rebel groups have threatened to abandon the two-day old truce if violations persisted.
Factions belonging to the Free Syria Army (FSA) – a loose alliance of militias excluding more radical Islamist groups – said government forces and Iranian-backed Lebanese Hezbollah fighters had been trying to push rebels back in the Wadi Barada Valley, northwest of Damascus.
The rebels and political opposition accuse the government of massing forces to launch a ground attack. Edit: i forgot to mention about the latest OPEC deal brokered and also agreed upon by Russia(non member) with plans to stabilize(increase) somewhat the oil price + Show Spoiler + . the US is flooding the market with oil ever since and seemingly by itself(+some non-OPEC countries), manages to keep oil prices low giving the middle finger to both Saudis and the russians.

My view of the past eight years of American foreign policy is going by this working hypothesis: like many Presidents before him, Obama had no deep foreign policy vision before coming to the Presidency in 2008, and many of his campaign pledges on FP were liberal talking points which turned out to be no match for the FP establishment entrenched in the American "deep state." As we saw earlier this year with the leaking of the State Department's "dissent channel" memo, Obama was put under severe pressure to intervene more forcefully in Syria to the extent of "use of military force as an option to enforce the Cessation of Hostilities," which is Bureaucratese for giving Syria the Libyan treatment. Wedged between a hawkish foreign policy establishment and a sceptical public, Obama got flak from both sides for falling between two stools.
The State Department of Lewis Einstein, William Bullitt and George Marshall is now the nest of angry toads, a swamp which deserves a first and sudden draining, in modern parlance.
