The knowledge I have gained from this thread and the subsequent reading I have done is immense. This thread in my opinion is the best thread on tl.net right now. As pretty as pictures of fireworks are, that's all they are they have no grander purpose. I don't mean to come across as a dick. This thread for me is more the subject matter, and the picture is a capturing moment of important human history. This is not a thread for pretty pictures taken with a nice camera. Look at the first pages of this thread. Many of those images are just mind-blowing. Honestly a collage of them would be a good representation of humanity. I would like to keep this thread that way. Rather than just filling it with images for the sake of it. Quality > Quantity. Again, not meaning to sound like a dick at all. Just expressing what I felt this thread represents. ok

![]() Story: + Show Spoiler + It's Chinese Maoists (Red Guards, basically young communists that were out in China and making sure everyone loved comrade Mao) celebrating China's first successful nuclear atombomb-test, each holding a copy of "Mao's little red book" high above their heads. This particular picture is staged, but events like this surely had similar impacts all-over China. edit: Why can't I post pictures? Never worked.. TT edit 2: With a little help from my friends I now have the picture yay! Thanks alot to both BloodNinja and beetlelisk! ![]()

If it doesn't end with either .jpg OR .png OR .gif (or in some cases they are put somewhere close to the end of the link but not at the end itself) then you have the wrong link. I bet you copied the link from you browser's address bar (where you can see link for each site you are on and where you type in links) instead of right clicking on the picture and left clicking "copy image location" to copy the image link. The difference here looks like this this is the link you copied http://www.google.se/imgres?start=159&um=1&hl=sv&sa=N&tbm=isch&tbnid=b0YY-Z90kql7YM:&imgrefurl=http://www.sacu.org/explosions.html&docid=XB4EI9vreGv6vM&imgurl=http://www.sacu.org/art/gs756.jpg&w=600&h=490&ei=hOHkT_nuIof44QT189zCCA&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=819&vpy=591&dur=417&hovh=136&hovw=166&tx=59&ty=137&sig=107618355979790629283&page=4&tbnh=136&tbnw=166&ndsp=59&ved=1t:429,r:14,s:159,i:309&biw=1920&bih=960 this is the link of the picture http://www.sacu.org/art/gs756.jpg Not always links of pictures are that short, they can be long too.

The picture with the 2 people just in bones was quite sad. They held each other to the end quite romantic too. And the typical military coming home and holding her child, love it.

He said while it is indeed a heart, it's not the actual heart of the man that's holding it. Apparently it's a standard medical school heart, filled with some sort of resin, and it takes months and months to get it like that. Still a cool shot, just thought I'd add. Tried to find the post on Reddit but couldn't.
