The size of the flame off the exhaust is insane given just how big that rocket is. Booster got as far as it needed to, and second stage ran into issues at the end. Hopefully they have enough telemetry to fix it for next time.

Starship I'm not sure what went wrong. They lost telemetry signals and then it asploded. I wonder if that was because they lost the signal. Will look forward to hearing what went wrong in the coming months. They probably won't launch until March anyway so we have time to theorize.

I assume its standard procedure to terminate a rocket if they lose signal.

When it spins, the Methane in the upper tank which is light (it has roughly 3.5:1 Oxygen:methane by weight) gets flung outwards via centrifugal force, even with the little bit of ullage pressure from the three enginesand the engines get starved. As the rotation stops and the rocket starts the boostback, the liquid methane in the tank (guesstimate around 50 tons left) smashes into the bulkhead and blows the rocket apart with a fluid hammer.

Not too sure how they’re going to resolve the heat tile issue which appears to already be pretty out of control. I’m not certain what the point of Starship is if it fails the reusability aspect.

edit: In the Podcast this is the first time Bezos has stated, publicly, that he left as the CEO of Amazon due to the lack of progress at Blue Origin. He states he is now spending most of his time there now.
