SK should look at it this way.. Step 1: 6 way talks Step 2: inspect for nukes Step 3: disarm nukes(if they have any) Step 4: full scale invasion
There ya go, just like Iraq.

I really don't like the look of this at all. I've been watching this pretty closely over the past few days and the next 48 hrs (probably less) will be pivotal.

A war on the Korean Peninsula would be a disaster for China. The US and ROK would crush North Korea in a matter of days. That would leave China surrounded by US allies, would significantly reduce their presence in the region, not to mention leave them a mess of refugees and former communist party leaders streaming into their country.
Not to mention the Korean War is still a sore spot for China's leaders. Most people forget that China was heavily involved in the war on the communist side, they lost a lot of people in the war. In fact, China doesn't call it the Korean War, in all official government outlets including the state news the conflict is referred to as the "War to Resist U.S. Aggression and Aid Korea". Never shortened up. Seems silly but I think it demonstrates the China's leaders feel about as strongly as the US when it comes to their investment of lives and money in the Korean situation. China's leaders like North Korea, and personally I believe they like the fact that North Korea irks the United States. If you get some time, read some news stories from the Chinese state news. Rarely is North Korea portrayed in a negative light, many of the stories about suffering and hunger that we hear about in the west never make it into the Chinese mainstream. China's leaders like North Korea and they aren't going to let the situation go to war because they know it would mean the end of North Korea; has nothing to do with their love of peace.
The whole situation has interestingly put China between the proverbial rock and hard place. On one hand is their ally, on the other if they don't condemn North Korea's actions China faces condemnation from the rest of the world. That's why for a long while China was staying neutral on the situation. Since then however, I have a strange feeling that some unhappy phone calls went from Beijing to Pyongyang. As crazy as the North Korean regime is, they won't risk pissing off Beijing, if China were to withdraw their support from North Korea Kimmy would probably be deposed by a CIA plot within a week (not really but you understand the point of my hyperbole)

N.K borders china. China does not want that land mass to become a U.S. Satellite location.
China is more likey to invade N.K themselves than support the US in fighting them. Just remember that. unfortunately this has been brought up almost every 5 pages so far, US's approach to NK is to parade our navy as a demonstration of power to get the NK to stop. China's approach has been more diplomatic and they are basically saying "stop patrolling your fucking boats. NK is looking for a fight, why r u giving them a reason to do even more shit" too bad all our media in the US is saying "wtf look at China telling us not to patrol our boats. fucking communist gooks" so it seems it making china look bad
they cant just back off. one of there allies is basically being bullied by NK and obviously they just cant sit around and do nothing. NK has showed aggression and the US is basically just in a defensive position right now just in case anymore serious aggression is shown.
so no, there not giving them a reason to do even more. NK already knew about the US involvement with SK and they know exactly what will happen if they go on a full fledge atk against them. if the US had no presence at all a full fledged war would have broken out a long time ago between the two.

Uh, hasn't China been calling for 6-way talks for like, EVER? How is everyone going "lol thanks China you guys really saved the day here!"
Am I missing something?

Old news. SS and SA missiles are on launch pads as of ~1/2 day ago.

North says Korean Peninsula in state of 'ultra-emergency'
SEOUL, Nov. 28 (Yonhap) -- North Korea said Sunday that the Korean Peninsula is now in a state of "ultra-emergency," as South Korea and the United States began massive naval drills south of the Yellow Sea border in a show of force against the North.
In a statement carried by the official Korean Central News Agency, the National Peace Committee of Korea, a propaganda organ of the North, denounced the joint exercise as an attempt to trigger a war against the communist nation.

South korea isn't thinking clearly. They failed to realized two things about North Korea: 1. They got nukes 2. They got nothing to lose.
