How bad is this "lack", I mean won't there be any bass? Would it be better to get Beyerdynamic DT770 instead? I also need some recommendations for cheap but good soundcard. AKG K271 MKII and K272 HD are the same headphones, just the HD gives you an extra (different) set of earpads and cables. If the K271 is cheaper and you don't need the extras, don't bother with the K272. (as always, some sample variance, testing variance, and maybe the difference in pads contributes to some difference in FR) So the "lack" is not that huge unless you're talking about sub-bass. If you have a spare PCI slot, Asus Xonar DG is cheap and decent. AKG K272 is relatively insensitive; if you listen to say classical or jazz music with a very high dynamic range and want the loud parts to get really loud (110 dB SPL is a good benchmark level), then most lower-end sound cards will not quite be able to go that high. For most records, where almost everything is close to 0 dBFS, it will be okay. On November 02 2011 04:49 KvltMan wrote: So, yeah. It's me asking about the HD212s again... I'm simply wondering if they are worth around 80$? Because that is the only price I can seem to get them for here in the EU. I think most Sennheiser HD 2xx series are not that well regarded anyway (though HD 280 is a classic...if you need the isolation). Granted, I'm sure the HD 201 is not indicative of the rest, and that's the only one I've heard. I'm seeing JVC HA-RX700 and Beyerdynamic DT 235 for under 40 euros, etc. on amazon.de. With European pricing, SRH440, MDR-V6, MDR-ZX700, etc. seem to be a bit out of reach. (These are all closed headphones.) Alright. ![]() Haven't decided on my next pair yet, I'm going to go have a listen to A700, A900 and any other pairs I can get my hands on this week. Got any other suggestions apart from A900? I'd like something with a relatively flat curve, no exaggerated/muddy bass and detailed mids/highs.

Never have really had a good pair of headphones or an amp so I am expecting to be blown away. Also, I see a lot of people asking about or already have purchased razer headsets. I have listened to all of the razer headsets except the sc2 ones at a local lan center and I have to say, they sound like complete shit. Stop buying razer headsets.

Or was there a better choice out there? + Show Spoiler + ![]() Well to be honest, there are always "better" headphones Especially if you are wiling to pay more But music is subjective! If it sounds good to you, then you made a good decision in your purchase! Top-tier crystal clear sound at a relatively easy to swallow price tag (compared to other top tiers).
