It seems something so widespread would of been at the least known, if not ordered, from somewhere high in the chain of command. And negligence isn't an excuse.

It seems that some people are finally starting to relize the true nature of war. I have maintained that this is a systemic problem, and I think most will feel the same shortly.

The people in these Iraqi jails are not "terrorists". If the US government thought they were terrorist, they would be at Gitmo. As mentioned above, these are regular people off the streets of Iraq. I'm wondering why exactly "we" have to interrogate such people at all. Are taxi drivers going to know where the "WMD" are hidden, or what "AL-Queda"s next plot is going to be? Of course not. To suggest other wise would be rediculous. So, are these interrogations really to get information? Or are we just ruling by fear like Saddam?

I obviously think the entire administration should resign, or more appropriatly, be fired. At the same time, I see a problem with Rumsfield resigning. There are many very serious and broad problems with our military, and our foriegn policy. We are now in a situation where we are being forced to analyze these problems. Unfortunetly, these problems go far beyond abusive interrogations and Rumsfield, so for Rumsfield to resign in response to these abuses, it would essentially be creating the illusion that the problem is solved. Rumsfield would be the scapegoat, and everything would continue as usual.

The media seems to be responding to these events, which I find interesting. The media sold Bush's war for him. All the questions that they are now asking, could have, and should have been asked long before we went to war. The media has long played the role of the administrations PR agent, and would be interesting if the media turned on Bush(after being caught in so many lies, I would'nt blaim them).

if rummy resigns it will just be a well-designed PR stunt to skapegoat him to benefit the cheyney regime anyways, so asking him to resign is really ridiculous. even if he did resign, he could still do all the same things he's been doing, giving evil advice from chancellor cheyney and whatnot, anyways.

Agreed

Richard Perle did just that. He resigned from the head of the Defense Policy board becuase he was rather conversial, but of course he stayed on as a regular member, and still plays essentially the same role.
