i think this picture is not funny unless you are a cynic.

i think the original picture is from a time called http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Biedermeier , censorship was very strong, people started to pay more attention to their private households, having musicians & artists only play for themselves and their friends, avoiding sharing their opinions in public, because this was dangerous. it was the rise of the "middle class", being oppressed by those who wanted to prolong feudalism and reign of the aristocracy. some people see parallels to the times we are living in now, maybe that was why this picture was made. some believe that modern aristocracy enforces its power with police/paramilitary forces, which we see depictured in this.
