Wait what? So does that mean FTL communications is possible if we just built a really long stick to tap morse code?? wtf. Imagine for a moment what kind of inertia a stick one lightyear long would have. With that kind of mass, it would bend and buckle long before you exerted enough force to move the entire thing.

Magnet pulling block of metal uphill, the magnet (if it is strong enough to pull the brick) will be pulled toward the block, and crush you into a pancake.
You get the idea.
Vacuum cleaner, energy to power vacuum.
Plane, only plausible if magnet is not attached to THAT SPECIFIC PLANE.
Free money..... you would get more money on the walk to alaska and back while BEGGING for travel money rather.

Slipstreaming, you still have to push the other car in front of you.
Lifting up other person, if you push them up, you will go DOWN.

Plane crash, the kinetic energy going down is so much more than that of going up from your jump that the former will cancel out the other and retain lethal velocity.
you cannot double jump in real life.

Actually the faulty assumption is that moving one end of the stick instantaneously moves the other end. At a small scale, its not unlike a large slinky or sponge. You push on one end, which compresses the material at your end, then propagates a wave that moves down the entire length of the object. The mediating force is the electromagnetic force between the atoms, which is limited by the speed of light, because the photon is the force carrier for EM.

guys, I was going along with the joke and explaining the physics so that I could enlighten some of the Tlers out there, and prevent seven year olds browsing the internet from finding that and trying the magnet block lol.

I think it's real, I saw that exact same thing in the M@M mall(?) in Los Vegas.

I made this meme quite a while ago, but never posted it because it was outdated. Then my friend convinced me to post it.

Regarding the atom split, no, you destroy the atom, its MASS is turned into ENERGY. free energy is ENERGY coming from NOTHING.
Atom split doesn't give you energy from turning mass into energy, rather from changing the atom stability.
Vacuum cleaner, energy to power vacuum. It's rather the same thing like that one with a magnet.
Imagine for a moment what kind of inertia a stick one lightyear long would have. With that kind of mass, it would bend and buckle long before you exerted enough force to move the entire thing.
Even if the stick was 1 meter long and we could transfer information faster than light, it would be something big. It's not the mass of the stick and the force that's the problem here.
