Mora said something which just might help find the underlying reason. He needed proper guidance and discipline. Something he most likely didn't get from his non-biological parents; were it due to lack of respect towards them or from them, but the reason might lie somewhere in there.

Kid has issues, don't take away the only thing he wants to do without having something concrete to fill the void.

Not saying her biological parents could've done any better job, or that there's something inherently wrong with adoptive parents. All considered, they should be better than the average due to the great will to get a child to nurture. Might've been just that it wasn't all peachy with the kid.

But seriously, they think he had mental problems because he stabbed her 17 times? Did he stab her 7 times too many?? So if I kill someone and stab them 40 something times after they are dead, does my punishment become lighter because I wasn't in my proper state of mind?
