I mean all I have read (nope not only reddit) has given me impression of TEST being actually the "fun" guys, I mean guys who don't push it to pointless limits and needs of what is needed to do to play. Where as Goons seem to be like egoistic own community. (I have played EVE for 3 months but quit now, played in BNI, but decided to quit because I can't keep my addiction low enough for it not to affect my RL obligations.) To be honest, N3 doesn't really like TEST (at least my alliance does not) but we hate Goons a lot more. That and if Goons has Fountain they will become too powerful. There's no good guy or fun guy in a war so all are equally good. ![]() @Hagon For N3, from what I see, I doubt that we want a good fight because we constantly have to fight with SOLAR and Gorgon (those Russian) in the South East. So "Gudfight" might partly be a reason but I don't think it's a main one. BTW BL now deploy in Fountain and shoot TEST/N3/PL more than Goons now. They also come and camp TEST/N3 staging area sometimes too.

I was sure I was doing the opposite - ignoring the narratives from both sides entirely and providing an examination of them based on the communities from which their members come. I absolutely agree that some people are "just playing a video game" in both cases, though it's more likely to be seen in TEST members. But I can justifiably categorize the membership in both organizations as I did earlier. There's almost no way to get into EVE with Goons unless you've subjected yourself, even if only a bit, to their "culture". There's basically no reason to join TEST unless Reddit is your primary point of contact with the internet. The mere act of joining one of these organizations means you're statistically already very likely to fit all the descriptions and themes I listed previously. Once you're in one of these organizations, your transformation begins. Groups actively breed conformity and actively ostracize any discomformity. The leadership gains and keeps their credibility almost entirely through the lens of this conformity. A member who's been initiated is likely to slide further and further into the group's way of thinking until they mirror their role in the group perfectly. This is nothing but an understanding of SA and Reddit combined with an understanding of group psychology. Atheists do not suddenly decide to spend 3 days a week at a mosque for no apparent reason.

In my experience, which covers a number of entities involved in this conflict, the differences between the bulk of the players in CFC/N3/TEST are fractional. If one group is slightly better or worse than another it is far more related to the handful of people organising than the individual members. Line members get delivered a narrative and accept it, although I sometimes wonder how much of their own bullshit some of the people higher up the chain are ingesting as well. In fairness the latter point is an almost universal situation and not confined to nulsec power blocs.

Well, the analysis that if Goons has Fountain they will become too powerful is what I made myself as they will be the biggest power bloc with one of the richest region in space. That might not be true and we will have to see what will happen. But your point is kinda true. The propaganda and spin right now is kinda too much for me ![]()

Both sides want to win EVE, and both want to take the game as unseriously as possible while doing so. But hey, a bit of cognitive dissonance never hurt anybody. From what I understand - which is nothing because I know fuck all about this game - this could quite possibly turn into a Vietnam situation (with the CFC being 'murica). It'll be interesting to see how each side's morale holds up. Everyone knows Mittens is famous for "the goal is to deny fun for the enemy, thus discouraging their pilots from logging in, thus eventually winning the war" type of strategy. But how long will that last until the CFC pilots suffer from that exact effect themselves? Could that strategy backfire in a war that lasts longer than both sides are used to? That is for someone who knows a whole lot more about the history of this game to determine.

Its just been an utter collapse of the gal fw side. Before this week they were doing pretty good and won fights with impunity. Now after we've been running kitchen sink BC fleets with ECM drones (I contributed to the ecm drone idea) we've been rampaging though their fleets and we've taken a good 40% of the warzone in a single week.
