Fight 30 – Holes v Liquid (video) Armor Sleipnirs v Triple Tengu. Armor Sleipnirs? I guess they could have gotten away with it if they had gone up against anything but a missile-based team. A team where range didn’t matter for them. No speed, close range. It just doesn’t make sense. Their logi simply couldn’t rep their tacklers before they died to missile spam. From minute 1 to minute 2… No Holes lost their tacklers. Completely. At that point, the tengus spent the next four minutes kiting the remaining ships, while slowly pecking them to death with missile spam. If the tengus had been up against a normal Sleipnir composition, they would have died horribly. If they had been up against anything that wasn’t gimped by needing both close range and slow targets… they would have died horribly. Both teams made terrible choices for compositions, or this was a metagaming situation where one team out-metagamed the other. Either way, flawless victory for Team Liquid. ![]()

I'm quite happy about this kill. I had been followed by that Firetail for a minute or two, and I was on TS and asked if anyone thought I could kill a Firetail. After a bit of what I thought was trolling, I realized that there was a real chance I could kill it if it wasn't TD fit (otherwise I'd just die in a fire quickly). So I decided to try to setup a trap so I would make sure it would land on 0 with me (since it had been warping to any of the Celestials I'd been warping to at like 30 every time). Unsure of what ammo to load, I figured that thermal would be the best choice in case he was using an anti-em shield rig or an anti-explosive armor rig, so I loaded Phased Plasma ammo and Inferno rockets. I warped to a frig plex in the system so I could try to isolate him in a pocket where he couldn't get help in quickly if it did look like I would win it, plus he might end up taking some site agro which would help me out immensely. I know he's like 8-10 seconds behind me, so I start moving away from the warp in point, turn around, and heat my afterburner to make sure I land near him when he warps in, with my speed already high. It works, and he lands about 3k ahead of me when he is finally targetable. And then a target disruptor icon appears on my screen. Fuck. Well, at least I'm gonna go down fighting. The npc frigs in the site start attacking me, but only about 1/4 of them, so I figure that some of the rest are going after the Firetail. That's a huge boost to me, especially in these circumstances. I'm ASB fit, so just as I start bleeding into armor, I start pulsing my booster. It appears that I'm breaking him, but it's close, since he's armor rep fit. I wasn't sure if he was trying to do something like orbit me at 2500 or something, but I had to manually pilot to keep close to him. He was faster than me, so if he wanted to get some range on me, he could have. My booster runs out of cap charges eventually, and I end up getting 2 cycles off with the capacitor that my ship has, and the boost starts the long reload. He's in low armor, but at this point, the majority of my tank has been chewed through, so I figured this would be the end for me. I start going into armor as he goes into structure. It seems that it's taking forever for his structure to go down between bursts of his armor rep, and I start going into structure. Finally, an explosion and a giant ball of flames appears on the screen, and his ship disappears from my overview, but his pod is still there. Since I'm still taking damage from the frigs in the plex, I spam warp to gtfo. I manage to get out with 26% structure. SUCCESS Looking at the killmail, it turns out that 0% of the damage done to him was by the rats in the plex. Fighting in there was a bad idea in hindsight. As successful as this was, it doesn't make up for my mistake of trying to brawl a Daredevil a short while earler though. Yes, I'm bad.

Edit: Thanks for clarification, Kwark!

We sent in a sigitar (sigtanked tackle scimmy) to get the initial point on the tengu while the following sleip and drake killed his legion friend. Tengu then ran and obviously had a significant head start on the sleip/drake.
