How is that not obvious lol The last thing that i would equate the word FAMILIAR to is AWKWARD. It's a matter of perspective and expectations. If one comes into this game with the expectations of having a nice, fun MMO that sticks to a proven formula -- there's nothing awkward about it at all and will be quite the enjoyable ride. If they go in with overly high expectations (which a LOT of people are) and they find it out to be really nothing that new, it could very well be kind of awkward. The connotations of those words are highly relative. If they go into the game with overly high expectations and expect soemthign new.... thats actually what theyre getting. Just because it uses the same combat mechanics as wow(fyi every single SUCCESSFUL mmo for the next 50 years will use the same mechanics) doesn't mean it FEELS like wow, and it doesn't mean that theres nothing new about it.
Not just talking about the combat, the questing, traveling, rested xp, recall, grinding x/y mobs etc, its just so WoWish.
I guess I was foolish to expect somehing new when WoW has pretty much forced every single mmo developer to follow the notion that if you dont stick to our model you will NEVER reach our success. So better just TRY to copy us and pull in some safe and good cash with a model that is proven to work.

Heh. Well, have fun then. Time had fun is time well spent, in my book.
If I'm a douchebag to you, please PM me and we can discuss it further to sort out our differences. Otherwise, please don't take your personal qualms with me publicly in a thread not meant for it
The only "personal qualms" i have with you are compeltely public, because the only reason I dislike you is because of your posting in this thread. Why don't you just leave... im being serious. You offer nothing constructive at all, all you talk about is the constant flaws of this game and how great guild wars 2 is going to be. Go post in the Guild Wars 2 thread.
Edit:
Think about if if this thread was the SC2 forums, and Guild Wars 2 was broodwar. If you did this same thing you'd have been banned 6 months ago. So you say you don't want the quality of posting in TL to go down by shit like this, then stop lowering it. Respect the people who would like to talk about this game instead of about how much better Guild Wars 2 is goign to be.

What? When did we get on the topic of GW2? I've been talking about the potential awkwardness of some high expectations being crashed down upon with my Swedish friend up there. All I was met with was baseless assumptions and you calling me a douchebag. I'm confused =/

Right, well, if you are refusing to actually respond to my points and explain your position and just keep calling me a "gw2 fanboy" for whatever reason, despite me not even remotely hinting to it in weeks/months -- I'll just take that as a concession of defeat. Now go have fucking fun with your game. Christ dude, I'm not even being sarcastic. If you're going to have fun with the game, go have fun, NO ONE is stopping you and I encourage you to have your fun. All I've wanted to do was share my experiences with this game and discuss the game. Just because I'm not picking it up day 1 and share a more or less negative opinion on the game itself does not mean I can not hold an opinion to share in the thread.
Go have fun, enjoy yourself. There's no point in getting worked up over other peoples opinions ♥
EDIT: How did they change the Inquisitor, by the way, for early access players? That was my first class played back in the Beta, so I wanted to know opinions of how it's working out right now.

Btw, something to note, there is no specific NA or EU client. If you buy the game, you can make a character on any server irrelevant of location (For example, I'm living in Korea, preordered whilst living in the UK and currently playing on an NA server)

Just purchase digital thats what I did, got my key already to. Unless you don't want to download then just buy the physical from a near by location or amazon
I was thinking of purchasing the digital download, but I've only read bad things about Origin. I suppose if I want to do the digital download, Origin is the only way to go.

Yours is the guild I was referring to Rah, thanks. I will be contacting you once I'm in the game.

There is nothing wrong with origin, people just over react a lot for some weird reason. But you don't have to download off of origin, you can download from the swtor website and thats where you have to register the product code anyway on the swtor.com website on the account you create there.

The other topic hasn't got many replies. Are there any guilds going on in Europe?

Theres a lot of similarities to wow but at the same time theres enough new concepts to make it stand on its own imo. What Im worried about is end game content. All the flashpoints I've done so far have been zerg clusterfucks with no real thought put into the encounters. Choppy animations and all the group mobs make it hard for me to see this game have as good quality encounters as WoW did. Cinematics are cool and all but by the second or third time you skip through everything. The game needs to have high quality instances/end game raids to compete with wow at this point...we'll see what happens at lvl 50.

If you digital download, can you start playing it now?

If you have early access.

Oh right. Do you need to be a journalist or something for that?

Pre-ordered and it's random from there, I believe.

No, it's based on when you redeemed your pre-order code. At this point, however, they've already gone through everyone, so once you redeem the code you'll get in rather quickly.

I just bought the digital download of the game a little more than an hour ago. Early access was an addtional $5. I'm downloading the client now and I'm not sure if I'll be able to play right away or not. I'll PM you when I find out.
