last time i checked, football players don't get a 100mph puck to the face, go to the dressing room and get 60 second stitches, and then come out and play on the next shift what's the difference between football and hockey "body checks", except for the fact that in hockey the checks are delivered at twice as fast speeds because your skating as opposed to running? Oh and you have hard boards, glass, and ice to smash the victim against - as opposed to.... grass? how many football players are missing most of their teeth, and don't give a fuck? =P PS. yeah hockey involves men on ice skates, but football involves men in spandex. Just in case anyone is romanian, yes this post is tongue-in-cheek  | ||

I'm just a goalie whore. but, the goalie position overall is so important it makes goalies a level of its own. and goals is an overrated category. and update your lines ppl! i hate how the person i'm playing hasn't updated his lines but is owning me anyways =( | ||

Skilled positions imho (you are welcome to argue other positions that require skill as opposed to brawn): QB, definitely. Yeah, they have to be able to throw the pigskin and dissect the opposing team's defense. Receivers, they have to be able to catch the ball, but I mean it's catching a football, hockey goalies have to catch pucks going 90+ mph. Kickers, they have to be able to kick the ball with precision and form, big muscles don't mean anything here. RB, sort of. They gotta run fast. Okay, but the skilled RBs do excel. They know how to get in the mind of their opponent with mad jukes. So much depends on how strong you are. Strength in American eyes is fun to watch, but I don't think it makes a better sport. Thus, you cannot validate a response that hockey sucks. I think a "better sport" is something that requires athletes to have more than just brawn. Sports like golf require much brain but little brawn. (Chess: all brain-no brawn) I feel that hockey combines both. You have to be strong, fast, and smart to excel in the NHL. Steroids won't help you. How many NFL players we see busted for steroids as opposed to NHL? Big muscles can't help your skill, but big muscles can help you excel in a low skill sport like the NFL. MMA. Having big muscles and strength don't get you anywhere, I'm talking to you Kimbo Slice. dknight, I'm sorry to hear that you don't think that hockey is a worthy sport. Maybe it's less fun for you to watch so you find reasons to justify that hockey sucks compared to football. Whatever, I'm not here to psychoanalyze your thought process, I'm here to outwit you to why I feel that hockey does not suck, rather, it excels as a sport over football. Football has a greater entertainment value here in the US because we drive big SUVs and the strongest and baddest are the best. We stubbornly stick to the Fahrenheit, inches, and pounds. However, the rest of the world, whom I think has a better perception than proud dim-witted Americans, acknowledge sports of great skill. Football (the real one), Tennis, Table Tennis (no bullshit here), Hockey, Volleyball, and even the world has embraced basketball as a sport they can apperciate. (I find it rather odd that NFL still lacks a following outside of America, a tennis player gains international stardom but NFL stars are limited by the sphere of influence, which is only the US) I am American but I refuse to fall into American stubbornness and step out of what my peers think and think for myself what I feel is a good sport and what is a "sucky" sport. dknight, find a chair + Show Spoiler + and sit down, son. | ||

Learn to recognize smack talk and sarcasm. I wouldn't do fantasy hockey, especially putting money on it - even if it just $10, if I didn't like the sport. | ||
