 The basketball combos happen because ArcSys decided, rather than reducing hit stun as a combo progresses, to increase gravity instead. I guess they figured the guy getting comboed would eventually have so much gravity that it'd be impossible to stop him from hitting the ground, which is true. But I guess they didn't realize he could hit the ground so fast that the engine would toss him back up into the air again.  | ||

I'm pretty much a total scrub with Sagat atm, so any advice is helpful ^^ i dunno the matchup very well because... i play as both sagat and blanka because i dunno who to main right now but i havent played the matchup.. i haven't played the game much yet but here's what i think: the slide is punishable on block but its hard to do. you might simply have to play it different than all the other matchups altogether. and yes be safer with fireballs. yes, roundhouse probably beats blanka ball. actually, have you tried (crouching?) jabs even ? zangiefs work.. i dunno about sagats. and no there's not much ways to punish them as far as i can tell... you can make a fireball "trade" if you fire the fireball in such a manner that he hits the fireball while he's bouncing back but i dont think this is in your favor... try it and see though. also, the kick ball that he does the backflip at the start and hits you from above, you can focus that one if you didnt know. my friend didnt realize the first time i played blanka and neither did i so i was in for a nasty surprise when he learned it by the next time. you just gotta watch out because blanka's so easy to play... probably easiest in the game (its why i pick him lol) | ||

Thanks anotak for the info, don't know why I didn't even think to try jabs, sagats cr.jab is fast as all hell too (3 frame startup). Gonna take a peek at the frame data to see what punishes for slides might be possible. Will update hopefully with some ideas~ | ||

I'm pretty much a total scrub with Sagat atm, so any advice is helpful ^^ Punish slide with sweep at the very least. If for some reason he did it closer than that, low forward/short into whatever. Just be smart with fireballs, once he gets into slide range (or has meter for EX ball) you can't just toss them out. I like to jump straight up and come down with j.forward if I know he doesn't have a down charge to EX vertical ball me (or if I don't think he'll do it anyways lol), very easy to punish a slide by doing that and it will make him more wary of just doing it and hoping you threw a fireball or walked backwards or something. And yeah you can jab (EX) ball, easier with rapid fire jabs of course. s.RH does beat it but the timing is kinda hard since the ball moves pretty quickly. -edit- ugh AMAZON YOU FAGS "sorry we sent out all the TEs to people who ordered it 2 weeks after you oh I mean MadCatz told us the stick doesn't come out for another 2 weeks so your preorder will have to wait, here's a $20 gift certificate you can't apply to your preorder" | ||
