It does. Though I don't think there'll be many ppl playing it in Ghent where I live. It's a student city though so maybe come September it'll get better!

Got the game on iPhone by making a new Apple ID registered in Australia.
Automatically moves you to the Australian iStore..

Gastly best catch so far. Was a Kadabra around work but we failed to find it (yep we went out during working hours to catch a Kadabra

)

Not fully launched, its a soft launch, only available as of this post for NZ and AU officially. You can sideload APKs and what not, but those aren't supported, and you should also check the hash for modifications.

You can't trade or battle other players in Pokemon GO.

I was in the field test. The game is bad. I still put tons of hours into it. It just... Isn't finished yet, and they still launched for some reason. Pokemon are in random locations (Climb a mountain? Find Seakings!), no trading or battling other players, pretty blatant pay to win mechanics.

Maybe they will patch it to add it later, but it isn't in the game right now.

Just got on. I think its pretty fun. Lot of potential here. I'll gladly throw them a few bucks in hopes that they continue to develop it further. Really solid foundation so far, and Ingress was a lot of fun, so I'm hoping for the best.

How are encounters generated in this game? Walked so far that I managed to hatch a 5kph egg but not a single encounter in that period of time.

I have no authority or proof of this, I've just heard someone random on the internet say that: It might depend on cell phone activity in the area.

I know that's pretty useless, as far as having something definitive goes, but it's something you might look into further.

Encounter rate goes up massively in the designated areas. Glowing green or purple areas, generally found at parks and on hiking trails. Walking around town will almost never get you anything.

That said, the real way everyone made meaningful progress in the field test was finding places with multiple Pokestops overlapping and using the lures on them. 3 pokestops, 3 lures, stream of Pokemon. When hiking in the 'tall grass' type areas, field test players always ran an incense, otherwise the progress was super slow. Without Lures and Incense, it will take you forever to make any progress.

I caught a bulbasaur and eevee in my room, and then it told me there was a clefairy on my neighbor's lawn so I went outside... and immediately got drenched in my neighbor's sprinkler system -.-'

I give it 48 hours before I get hit by a truck for not paying attention properly.

Entire office is playing this, having tons of fun. We're in a city so there's a steady stream of pokemon, and lots of pokestops/gyms.

Though certain types haven't appeared yet. Have yet to see any fire/rock pokemon. Though a growlithe came out of an egg earlier. Normal and Water seem by far the most common here.

My biggest annoyance atm is that you can't see in which direction to go to catch a pokemon that is 2-3 paws away.
