Have you been reading the TL and b.net threads? A ton of people are whining about how games aren't always F2P in the year 2015, especially Blizzard games, since some games are. Some are also worried about additional costs too.
I won't buy it for 40 since it is an fps. The game seems good but I dislike the genre too much to pay so much for a game I'll play an hour or two a month. If I could use my steam wallet I might buy it since that is money I have and not spending on anything else (know it won't be on steam unless Blizzard goes bankrupt).

If you account for inflation games got way cheaper. In a way I'm surprised games haven't gotten more expensive, the majority are still priced at 60$.
Lots of games were 60$(and most of the time even more) 20 years ago.
well for my region games gotten more expensive lately slowly (because euro got weaker towards the dollar), and the euro change sneak doubled their price almost.
But there are a few reason games didn't increase in price. Working situation got worse. Playtime dropped the customer base grew constantly. All that allowed a constant price. It is mostly a fear that they lose customers if they go higher, thats why they do stuff like season passes everything that keeps the base version at the price everyone knows. I mean console only got more expensive, because Blue Rays are more expensive.
Thats why I started liking Blizzard even more. Good old B2P with expansion packs if people enjoy the game, when everyone else went insane on preorders and DLC coming on day 1. So yeah if we like Overwatch, there will be an expansion pack somewhere down the line for sure. And knowing Blizzard it will make the game 3 times as good.
Played a game on gibraltar today as reaper. Enemy reinhardt went up to charge me, and as he approached i used my wraith form and he charged right through me. I turn around to see where he was going, and he kept charging right off the cliff to death.

Hm yeah not playing this anymore till the new heroes come out (to test them a bit) and then waiting for a new gamemode probably. Atm the game doesn't deserve the hype (even though i think the hype already died down) it gets.

or if you are a console player you have no choice but to spend $60 USD with the amazing bonus of a bunch of crap that plays on a WIndows-Based-PC you might not even own? huh?
i thought for sure they'd have a campaign component for console players to justify the extra $20.

The reason they don't sell the cheap version for consoles is probably because they wont let them. I dont see why Blizzard would not do it if they could.
ive been watching streams of it every day, anticipating. i was originally skeptical of the hype fenner gave it but i think im all aboard the train after watching some of the blizzcon stuff.

well i think the console manufacturer gets $10 or $20 or some guaranteed royalty fee on each unit sold. essentially forcing their hand to sell it for $60 USD.

so i just figured they'd stick some kind of small campaign mission in the thing for the $20.

Sorry but I dont see the logic in that. If you think the price is unfair complain to Sony and Microsoft. Not Blizzard.
ya i dont think blizzard had much of a say, here. at least you guys got some skins as opposed to blizz just charging $60 across the board and having that be extra dlc.
