Nope. Garchomp was Uber from damn near the beginning, right from Diamond and Pearl. As soon as they realized that Jolly Swords Dance/Outrage/Earthquake/Fire Blast with Yache Berry outsped and killed everything that wasn't Vaporeon before it could switch in and kill it. Garchomp was OU for quite a while after Diamond and Pearl came out. I stopped playing competitive pokemon around the time Deoxys-S was being tested for the OU tier, and Garchomp was still in the OU tier. Yeah, but I was talking about near the beginning of Gen IV. Gen IV had D/P, Platinum, and HG/SS. Being banned maybe a good maybe 8 months into D/P is still near the beginning of Gen IV.
Ah, sorry. I misinterpreted 'near the beginning, right from Diamond and Pearl' to mean shortly after the release of those games.
