Regarding the TeD thing, he was really the only one to ever pull off that strategy. Only a few players tried to mimic it, I'm assuming because it requires incredible control. I don't really recall any other top tier UD who used that technique on a regular basis...

Practice. 3. Banshees vs Orc is a way more fragile strategy than your standard fiend -> destro. If you won't execute it properly and catch orc player off guard you'll simply get torn to bits as you'll lack the killing power of fiendstro and banshees are actually countered pretty hard with spiritwalkers and TC stomp (pretty much how Orcs counter NE druids, same thing here for the most part). That's also why you don't see many UD utilise necrowagon vs HU (which is a viable strategy, but much harder to pull off than your standard cookie-cutter stuff).

By semi-active, do you mean in forums for discussions, or do you hold actual events and such? I think it'd be awesome to try and organize something like that.

http://war3tv.com/2014/02/01/open-cup-set-to-begin-february-16/ Apparently, there will be new regular tournament(s) aimed to fill the spot left by Zotac Cup.

I'd love to see that grow and develop into something as big as ZOTAC, or even bigger. I'm probably going to donate, I encourage anyone still interested in WC3 to do so as well. Tomorrow I'll add the info about the tournament in the OP. Not to mention it will also help w3arena grow, which is also very good. Long live WC3!

It's good to see so many good players from back when are still around, and still playing WC3 no less. Greatest game of all time, I've said it before and will say it again. I'm very busy today, but I'll try to add his stream and the info about the tournament later.

I think Khaldor made an excellent argument there , although he only spoke for a few minutes in both videos about the hero element in wc3 in relation to viewers , I never considered it but it is true , I showed the final match of wcg 2011 to a friend of mine who quit the game in 2004 , he forgot most of the game but when he saw TeD and Fly do what they do with their heroes , he was getting excited.....way more than he ever did when I showed him sick sc2 play. It funny how sometimes in LR threads someone mentions something about wc3 and all of sudden the hero aspect of the games bashed ( disclaimer : it only happened a few times , it isnt the case with the majority of TLers ) , while I think the thing I love most about the game is the hero aspect , now I actually have some way to articulate the argument. Another issue that came up in the recent legendary game between SK and Reality is how long games with stalemates are getting boring because of SH and meching terrans..... a commenter mentioned late game wc3 , if I look back at it I dont recall a single super late game ever to be boring , the game is centered around long ass battles and micro , add high level heroes to that mix and late game wc3 is truly amazing....and yes even mass towers + tank vs bear games. Back to the video , according the Khaldor sc3 wont make it in future e-sports , while a game like wc4 will , and I think he nailed it perfectly.

Just as Khaldor says, you need to know what's going on in SC2, and even then I personally don't really enjoy watching it. Even if you know what they are doing and you get that they are doing it really good, it's still hard to appreciate since the focus is on the units and not on the macro. In WC3 there is allways units doing stuff, which makes it look like there is more stuff going on compared to SC2. But then again, I don't really care so much about e-sports.
