Like a cumulative "Scoring Attempt" stat. Durant drew a lot of shooting fouls. He definitely took more actual shot attempts, they're just not recorded in the stats. :/

Talks a lot about how defenses and player-values have changed since 2008 and 3-pointers, some points I've been harping on a few pages ago.

That sounds about right; been a huge fan of Battier's play style for a long long time. Never understood what took NBA so long to understand 3pt > 2pters; it's a matter of point efficiency.

From the '94 season to '95, the average 3PA per team jumped by 50%, 400+. Maybe that's the generation after the Fab Five entering the NBA and making their impact? Then it dropped by 200~ or so in the late 90s and early 00s, and has since climbed up. Maybe the drop is from all the terrible iso combo guard play with the Iverson's, Marbury's, Stackhouse's, McGrady's, etc.? Not sure. The Warriors are actually below average in 3PA. In fact, the top 5 teams are the Knicks, Rockets, Lakers, Blazers and Hawks. Not exactly world beaters. What's interesting is that the top 3pt shooters haven't really changed in quantity or accuracy for quite some time. Steph Curry led the league this year with 600 3PA, but multiple guys were crossing 600 in the mid-90s. George McCloud took 678, John Starks took 611, Dennis Scott took 628. The 10th place guys' numbers look the same too. 40%+ has been a regular thing among the top 10 for 20 years now as well. I think there's just more players who are able to do it than ever before. I don't know if you blame teams or coaches when the players weren't equipped to do it.

Lots of coaches have tried 3 pt centric offense in the past but its just easier to do now since the talent is there and the basic pet plays have been copied. T

In addition, like I have said before, this 3-pt trend and PnR trend with shooters in the corners can all be traced back somewhat to D'Antoni. Or at the very least, we can't deny that his style of coaching is perfect for this new, modern NBA. Agree with Ace above.

You can teach a black man how to shoot. You can't teach a white man how to jump. =p
