Sorry. On the plus side, as long as you keep making these "Missed it! AGH!" posts, I'm keeping you active. ;-)

Probably next game we should change the going-inactive thing to depend on a number of days rather than a number of moves. I based it on moves mostly because that was easier to keep track of, since I was already tracking votes, but with so many votes being unanimous, it turns into something of a vicious cycle, where each vote takes fewer moves to close and only the hyperactive stay active.

If anyone wants to officially go active again, just say so, though, and/or send in conditional votes if you're not sure you'll be around for the official voting period.

Interesting board qrs. My solution in spoiler (I assumed its blacks turn).
+ Show Spoiler +
The problem is that I can only find solutions for mate in 3. So I guess I have missed something.
1... Qxf3 2. Qd1 Qxh1+ 3. Ng1 Qxg1++
1... Qxf3 2. Ng1 Qf2+ 3. Kd1 Ne3++
All other moves for white is mate in 2 moves for black. Will be looking forward to the answer.

You can treat it as a puzzle, if you like: Black to mate in 4. The full mate is a little tricky, but the first move isn't too hard to spot and leads to a pretty position, as I said.

(I didn't actually work out the mate myself; I thought about it for a little and worked out a couple of the lines, but eventually I just tossed it to a computer to confirm there was a forced mate. In the game itself, White resigned after the next move.)

I think that's the convention when the wording of the problem is "[White/Black] to mate in x". In either case, yes, that's what I intended.

2. e4

I'm a novice player following along for fun, and voting with the majority on black to help speed the game along. I hope I'm not giving away too much information, but - d4 was initially suggested so I voted thinking that was the obvious move. Since then many players have suggested alternatives, so I'd hoping to withdraw my initial vote until the experts on my team settle on their decision.

Two days into the vote, and only three votes cast. This is a turn of events!

Current state of the vote looks like this:[image loading]
If the vote closed now, 18...d4 would win, as the most recent of the tied moves to hold an outright lead.

As usual, with the weekend coming around, I may not check TL as often as usual, so there may be a delay before I update the OP. In any case, as ever, vote closes at the time listed in the OP, unless a single move garners half of the active voters before that time or unless, when the deadline is reached, a majority of this turn's voters choose to take a 1-day extension.

I'm assuming that you're only making a comment just now, but FWIW, if you do want to vote for an extension, make sure it's clear that you're voting for it.

Well, I'm going to vote for an extension of another day then.

But just in case that doesn't go through, I'm also going to vote a move, which I may change if we do vote for more time.
