Once you get killed alot at first and become frustrated you go into adaptation mode. Then you start to learn. Once you get a group to play with its so much fun lots of adventures.

Sounds about right, I'm glad its so hard solo. I play to stay solo renegade for a while and learn that way. Really sucks you can't full heal solo though. My games this weekend were basically me finding various gats then slowly dieing over the next couple hours because cans of food weren't cutting it and I'd just slowly die then remake. Got myself about 10 pks so far and only a couple player deaths. I need a bud just to give me blood!

Cooked meat is the solution to that, it's really easy to find animals (in my opinion, I always find them fast) and one meat is like 800 health.

I'm having a lot of trouble connecting to servers the last two days. Anyone know of a fix to make loading times better or something? It just sits on the loading screen forever and never does anything...

Read some of the guides/tips for new players, they are all around. They will help but there is so much to know that no one guide could possibly come close to covering everything. You will die a lot in the beginning but just learn from it and move on, it gets easier once you know the controls and how the game plays.

Well I am definitely down to help you raid some of that equipment if you can't carry it all. Wouldn't mind a range finder.
Just search the northern and western edges of the map, you find tents everywhere (especially north of the NWAF), and vehicles quite often as well. I have found quite a bit of good gear looking for other people's caches. I have also gotten some really nice gear killing server hoppers in Stary. Who knows why someone would server hop Stary when they have a full kit including NVGs and Rangefinders, but I see people do it all the time.

Time for a DayZ story.
So I log into the TL server, on the hills south of Stary Sobor. Sit in a bush for a while watching, no zombies and no friendlies nearby so I decide to switch to a random EU server to PvP for a bit. At this point I'm pretty well equipped with a AS50, M1911 and compass, map, most of the goodies just missing NVG's rangefinder and coyote backpack. I sit watching the town for a little while and then all of a sudden I see 2 guys running literally 5 metres in front of me with AK's. I decide to sit still and hope they don't spot me in my bush. One looks right at me and I'm so close to opening fire with my AS-50 but I know I'm too close to take out both risk free since I'm lying down on the ground and can't scope in on them. I let them pass and somehow they don't spot me, once they are behind my bush I take out my M1911 and put 3 shots into each of their backs, taking both down. I reload and put a cap in each head just to make sure.
Nothing worth taking on their bodies so I logout after checking around for others and switch back to the TL server since Paqman and Jochan are nearby. At this point I'm out of food so after paqman and Jochan are in position after killing a girl near the tents Ipop into the supermarket for supplies and then join them on the hill northwest overlooking the tents. Anesthetic arrives and we decide its time to move out, but can't really decide where to go. I'm still in need of a secondary weapon such as an assault rifle or submachine gun so I go and check out the deerstand to the North. Halfway there and Jochan spots zombies towards the east of the town. I cba to be honest since I'm about to logout, but I decide to flank round the north and then move east so I'm coming in towards the tents from the east. Suddenly Anaesthetic starts shitting himself, there's a guy and girl moving towards the supermarket, and they are right above them.
I suggest to hold fire till they get into the supermarket so they can pick them off easily, but they start coming up the hill.
Here its kind of unclear but the guy opened fire with a silenced weapon killing Anaesthetic who fails miserably with his AKM since he forgets to zero right down .Now Jochan and Paqman are bricking it, and trying to get eyes on the hostiles. Somehow in the confusion Paqman nails Jochan and takes him out. Paqman realises and hides in his bush but the 2 hostiles are scoped in on him really close.
Now in all this time I've been booking it over to their position from the esat, hoping I'll come up behind or at least to their right and can take them out, I'm running through the bushes and all of a sudden I come out in the open and there's the female with an AK-74 right in front of me, about 10 metres out with her back to me. I crouch and aim with my AS-50 but can't get a shot since she keeps strafing and running trying to see paqman. As I'm doing this I spot a guy with M4A1 CCO SD and NVG's crouched behind a tree leaning round facing right where Paqman is. I take the shot and know its a guaranteed kill since its a 50 cal bullet through his side and switch to the girl, who is still running round clearly now confused as fuck. All of a sudden she stops still stood up and I line her up, surprised she's stood still for such an easy shot. Clearly she's a pro at combat disconnecting and disappears right as I get her ass in my crosshair.
I decide to go loot the guy I killed since we know its only two and she'll be a while coming back so we have time to reposition before she server hops back in. I loot the guy and fucking jackpot, M4A1 CCO SD - 7 mags, DMR -6 mags, GPS, NVGs, large Coyote backpack, all the tools and everything I could possibly need. Paqman gets the hell out of there with Jochan's loot to save it for him and I decide to head out too. I get 200 metres out and realized I picked up the DMR mags instead of the STANAG SD in my hurry. I decide fuck it, it will take a while for her to server hop back if she even does, so I head back to his body and grab them quickly. Right now my heart is pumping and I just want to get the hell out of there.
I start running out through the woods at the top of the hill and literally run right over some female character lying in a bush with an M14 AIM crawling towards the dead body of the dude. I have my M1911 out and run around her in circles hip-firing three magazines into her while he (yes it was a guy) screaming "friendly, friendly, god-dammit I'm friendly!" Sure bro... There was an AK-74 in her backpack. Coincidence? I think not. Karma bitch/dude! Now I really need to GTFO, the amount of fire we laid down must have alerted people for miles around. I run up to the woods across the field to the north and logout, ready to make a trek to place my tent tomorrow.
End results my loadout is now AS50 - 4 mags, M4A1 CCO SD - 7 mags, every single tool apart from rangefinder.
AND I killed a server hopper

Figured I'd take a trip to the TL server and I'm getting the same problem, no matter how long it sits on loading I'm not getting in and never had any issues on any other servers.

So basically I'm really considering buying this game together with my friend, but he's not overly excited. I read alot of cool things here but I don't really know what to say to convince him. Anyone that plays the game that could give me some pointers on what to say? The best things about DayZ basically!
