the FIA has always had problems with aggressive drivers... though this year all his problems have come from his own team...

Tbf its because he hasn't been aggressive, i mean this is the most relaxed lewis i have seen racing in formula one. He has just been a good driver all season, nothing over aggressive and risky just solid easy driving. He has done all his work in the qualifying and hasn't had to over take much so its pretty easy for him so far, if he can just keep his car 1st place on the grid!!

Yeah, this season he has been very relaxed but he has an aggressive driving style... but the FIA hasn't been his problem this season, its been his team.

Yeah put him in another team and he probs would of won 2 races this season, even in the Ferrari i could see him winning races!

LOL I'm not so sure about that the McLaren has been the fastest car over-all remember

Has it? In Australia maybe but every other race it hasnt. Even Australia I remember Button saying Mark Webber showed the best race pace based on analysis. KL was Perez, China Nico, Bahrain was Vettel and in Spain despite qualifying pole I dont think he had the fastest car. Look at Jenson's performance. Personally I feel the best car on the track is the Lotus but the drivers are not up to scratch.
|
it's pretty hard to pick out the fastest car becasue its so close... but what is it 3-4? pole positions from Lewis this year... thats more than anyother team has managed aswell as 3 podiums from lewis and a win from Jenson.
|
You have to factor in that some cars perform better in qualifying and some perform better in the race. Look at Red Bull and McLaren for this, also you have to consider the drivers. I am sure that we all dont think the Ferrari should be winning races and it has, but maybe the Lotus should have won races and hasnt.

Yeah possibly... but while the Lotus has been fast, its been pretty inconsistent... Lewis has been constantally fast in every race, granted that could be down to the fact that he's arguably the most tallented driver out there, but still the car makes a diffrence. And yeah Ferrari's points and Alonso's joint lead in the championship really illustrates how complete of a driver he is.
But yeah Lotus have already won two races, but there inexperiance in tactics has let them down... though that said at the early part of last year they were also quick... if they can keep up with development of the big teams they should be getting a win sooner or later... but I personally don't think that over-all they have the best package.

A bit of news then for our Monaco day off. First off, Hamilton looks like he will sign a new five year deal with McLaren. http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/12433/7777299/
The teams are now able to do the young driver test mid-season at Silverstone. Only Red Bull, Torro Rosso and maybe McLaren are not showing up meaning a fairly big disadvantage for this years title race. Now Red Bulls teams are obliged to run at Abu Dhabi and McLaren only encouraged but I think they will have missed a trick if they dont use this mid-season test especially considering how experienced their "young drivers" are at development (also wtf HRT testing). I miss these tests at Silverstone, they are always free parking and entry so I highly recommend going for a day to any fellow English. I think it is 10-12 July.
Pirelli have offered to make pure qualifying tyres for next year, I guess it would need to get the green light soon if it does happen but I would love it.
and finally.... looks almost certain to rain tomorrow at qualifying so that should shake things up a bit.
|
the only thing this race has going for it is the chance of a safety car and a pile-up but its mostly a lottery as to who is involved, other than that its just the worlds most expencive precession... I wish this was the only street circute on the callender :/

Maldonado punished for his reckless move in FP3 with a 10-place penalty. Reminds me of him doing the same to Hamilton in qualifying last year. Schumacher should have received the same penalty last week for his actions in practice.
|
Crazy thing by Maldonado and a well deserved, Red flag in Q1 with 15:10 left due to Perez crashing out, looks to me in the replay that he lost steering in that corner.
edit: and oh.. that is the same part of the car as Maldonado ran into in the practice session, wonder if that had anything to do with it.
|
typical maldonado, scum move, if hamilton did that he'd be banned for a year
|
Enjoyed that! Such a close set of times, well done Schumi.

Ok fuck this, I can't hold it in anymore. I fucking despise whoever produced the formula 'show' on UK television that shows the timings and all that stuff. That guy in charge needs to be fired. Fucking ridiculous. Oh look, I'm trying to watch qualifying so the only thing I'm interested in is the timings, where people are and what times they need to beat; it adds suspense and interest.
OH BUT WAIT we don't need to put that on the screen, no of course not. It's not helpful at all to show the timings THE ENTIRE Q3. Fuck. Grosjean gets that time and they are like "oh not good enough for pole".. well so, where he is? I have no fucking idea because you haven't shown the timings in 8 minutes and the commentators never mentioned it.
Just so awful I hope he dies by a falling cow. *sigh* I feel better now I got that out.

Schumacher takes pole, shame about his grid penalty. My hopes of a Raikkonen win tomorrow are fading as well
