Top speed 312km/h (with Drag Reduction System on rear wing) – 300km/h without. Full throttle – 70% of the lap. Total fuel needed for race distance: 153 kilos. Time spent braking: 15% of the lap. 8 braking zones. Brake wear: Medium. Loss time for a Pit stop = 16.5 seconds Total time needed for pit stop: 22.5 seconds. The pit lane speed limit in Sepang is 100km/h, which means faster pit stops than Melbourne. Fuel effect (cost in lap time per 10kg of fuel carried): 0.36 seconds (average/high) And there should be lots of overtaking not only at T15, even if its dry. Higher tyre dagradation and less rear grip (no EBD) will result in more driver errors - overtaking possibilities ![]()

I'll focus on Ferrari's Alonso. Fernando Alonso has warned that Ferrari won't be able to deliver a 'miracle' cure to fix the F2012's flaws and that their form could deteriorate further in Malaysia this weekend. Asked whether the characteristics of the high-speed Sepang circuit might signal a change in Ferrari's level of competiveness, Alonso's answer was bleak and brutally honest: "Hopefully yes but I don't think so, to be honest. We have been testing at different circuits: Jerez, Barcelona and then in Australia with more or less the same car with the same problems on it. We don't expect any big miracles from Australia to Malaysia because the cars are identical. "In Australia, no one thought that we could finish fifth. There were a lot of people quicker than us. In the race, there were some incidents that helped us finish fifth. Here, with a normal race, maybe we will finish further behind, maybe with a more crazy race or rain or something, we can finish in front, so we have to play before we see what we can do." "I think at every race we will try to make improvements as we did over the last few years. New parts will slowly come at every race and hopefully they work, but there's not one magic race or one magic moment when we think things can change. I think we will work day and night and as I said before; the team is very focused on that and I see great reaction from everybody, so I expect a strong Ferrari soon. "We need to stay focused and work more than the others knowing that we are a little bit behind now. But the championship is long. We stay calm, we stay focused, because we see a lot of determination in the team. We see the team with a very good atmosphere, (we) trust each other in the team, we are very united, so the time will come to us very soon. "We just need to wait and see but I have 100 per cent trust in the team." Was an extremely interesting conference, not just because of his answers but of his body language. http://www1.skysports.com/formula-1/news/12474/7617126/Alonso-Don-t-expect-Ferrari-miracles Just have a look at some of his pictures, doesn't look a happy Alonso. But like i said to my dad when watching the race, you have to take your hat off to him, he is an excellent driver all be it his attitude can be rather annoying.

Also looking forward to seeing Kimi start from a better grid spot as long as they don't try to get too damn greedy in Qualifying. Saving a set of tyres isn't worth starting 18th - Fact. Hoping for 8 cars that can challenge for the win, that would be epic!!

Kimi Raikkonen has been hit with a five-place grid penalty for Sunday's Malaysian Grand Prix. The punishment was dished out after Lotus had to replace the gearbox in his car, with regulations stating a driver should use the same one for five successive races. A team member tweeted on Friday: "A bit more work for Kimi's crew this evening. An issue with Kimi's gearbox so we're changing it now." Source

Its probably best for him to qualify 6, and start on fresh set of primes from 11. If its dry off course. Anyway, would love to have more sleep today between MLG and the qualies :/
