How many of you are interested in starting a TL Fantasy basketball league? If we have enough people I can set one up (on yahoo).
If you're interested, just post in here and i'll get a list going and hopefully start a league some time this week. I think we'll cap the league at 16 teams (if we even get that many people interested).

I would normally participate, but I'm in five leagues already and want to keep it there as I was reluctant to be in the fifth as is. Plus, the season has already started, and it takes time to find a draft time that works for everyone. Thanks, but maybe next year.

same. I'm in 6 leagues v_v. Next time if you're serious advertise a fantasy league way ahead of season start.

Yea this is pretty damn last minute. Actually I'll add a draft time to the OP so we don't have to try and sort something out after the fact.

I have been late to joining a fantasy league and had even decided against joining one anymore..but I am down to join this one! I'll PM you my e-mail or just let me know how I should join.
|
i'll join, but i hope the draft date isn't on a day that has already passed.. *cough december 22nd*
|
Haha whoops. I meant 29th .

Any more takers? Hoping to get at least 2-3 more.

ESPORTS!!
We just need 1-2 more to guarantee this will happen (8 teams is enough imo). Ideally we'd get like 3-4 more though.

Posted on NBA thread just in case people missed it...

Yes yes yes! I've never done fantasy basketball before though, so if someone could give some tips on how to set up my team etc that would be awesome!
And thanks so MassHysteria for posting it in the regular season thread, would've missed it if you hadn't mentioned it! :D
By the way is there an overview of how drafting works? I'm guessing it's like the real deal, so you'll have to watch your salary cap to not end up with a non-existent bench etc?
User created, do you need the username or something? :O

Hey VENDIZ,
I'm going to create the league right now. When you sign up you can read all the rules/details. If you still have any questions after that, just post them here or PM me and i'll help.

So looks like we should have at least 8-10 teams. Not bad considering how last minute this was.
|
Can someone give me a "explain it like a 5 year old" version of how to play fantasy basketball? Once everyone joins what happens? thanks
edit: my team name is called rookies, when can I start choosing players? is it when the draft countdown ends?

When the draft starts (Thurs, Dec 29th @ 2 pm est) we will each be taking turns choosing players. Starting order will be determined randomly. It's a snake draft system (whoever is last in one round is first in the next).
So basically everyone will build a team.
Each week you will be in a head to head match against another team. Your players stats will be added throughout the week and go towards your team stats (pts, assts, rebs etc.). For each category you win you get a point.
So you want to build a balanced team that does well in all categories. What you don't want is melo/amare/kobe/a bunch of other guys that score a ton of points but don't help your team anywhere else.
Of course there are different strategies as well. Some teams will choose to "punt" a category by conceding it to focus on other things. A common example is, teams that draft dwight howard tend to punt points and focus their efforts on everything else (because you don't need to win every single category to beat a team).

So each week it's just a 1v1 matchup between my team and someone elses as oppose to everyone in the tournament?

Yes. Each week you face a different team. The top 6 teams at the end will go to the playoffs.
