The AWP can shoot through people I think. It can also penetrate through walls. I was able to get a kill through this wall on Inferno a couple of days back
Is AWP the only weapon to penetrate walls in GO or do all weapons do that? If the latter: How is it compared to 1.6?
All weapons can penetrate but it depends on the thickness of the surface. I don't think any other weapon can shoot past this particular wall. But you can shoot in apps kitchen from b site in mirage for exemple.

I tested this a few days ago actually, the auto-snipers and the Negev can also penetrate through that wall (and maybe some other weapons as well IIRC) and even the mini-wall behind it as well as seen in the image below + Show Spoiler +
(Shot with an AWP)
But yeah, I basically got a kill through the wall in a competitive match a few days ago, and because of the heat of the moment, I was like "How did that work", even if I knew the enemy was behind it

I'm currently Gold Star 3. Usually around 2-3 stars. Only maps I really know are Dust2 and Nuke. Working on learning Inferno and wouldn't mind learning Cache/Train.
Biggest weaknesses right now would probably be my ability to stay alive during pushes and playing positions as long as possible (before dying or falling back to another position).
Anyway yeah if anyone is willing to take a newb under their wing feel free to PM me.
I found a LOT of good community servers, some SoCal Competitive others France / Euro with a lot of people playing at DMG~ish levels. I just join and get mutilated with the hopes of observing and playing better. Play safer, focus on crosshair placement etc.
Another thing I did was play a ton of Deathmatch just to practice aim and strafe shooting when I bought the game during Xmas. Went from Silver 4 to SME quite easily, and even the last competitive I played seemed like nobody knew how to shoot. DM really made it for me. Just spawn and focus on going forward as if you're playing competitive, check all corners proper crosshair placement and shoot. I sometimes check behind me, but that's not in my focus to get better.

Have you played a previous CS game before?
Yes I played 1.6 and CS:S. I briefly played competitive 1.6 but I was quite bad at it.

that graveyard wall is spammable with any normal weapon actually.
What sensitivity do you guys play on, I keep lowering and lowering it, to try and get into the mythical 1 shot 1 hs ak zone @_@ currenltly ive got 1800 dpi, .75 in game sensitivity, any tips and tricks to help a nova 1 out?

You're basically in high end of good sensitivities, ideal sensitivity is about 800-1200 true sens. If you lower your in game to .7 or a bit lower you should be good.
I play at 2.315 at 450 dpi, but I think what's more important at the lower end of games isn't so much aim as much as it is about positioning [assuming you don't wildly swing your mouse around while shooting]. After showing some of my friends videos about crosshair placement and positioning, they improved dramatically, even while still having mediocre aim.

You're 100% correct but at the same time you need good sensitivity for proper crosshair placement. Even though nanospartan's is not that bad its a bit higher than ideal sensitivity which might make it hard to be consistent with crosshair placement.
I think good crosshair placement just requires good knowledge of the map. I think I have good placement which compensates for my bad reaction time and sensitivity. I play with 5 sensitivity, 400 DPI, 1000 polling and it's not quite low enough but it's what I'm used to. I don't think I can make it any lower without changing the way I hold the mouse (Just fingers. Wrist on desk and palm not resting on anything). I can do okay against legendary eagles so that's good enough I guess.
I think I'm at 1800 dpi and about.......1.5 in game. I used to play with 1.0 and lower in the 1.6 days but damn I can't play with it going that slow nowadays.
Sensitivity helps but is by no means a must. I also found it much easier learn to compensate for recoil so i can get comfortable 4-5 shot bursts into chests rather than trying to go for hs
