I can confirm that 6 man Dominus farm is OP.

Nothing is effective as a solo player; balancing around it would be a huge tragedy.
If GGG doesn't want people farming Dominus then they need to revert the high end uniques being able to drop from him. Without the unique drops Dominus wouldn't actually be worth farming long term and I'd even go as far to say that 66 maps are easier than Dominus so getting map ready is pretty much irrelevant. You might want to farm up some alterations so you have currency to roll affixes with, but there are much better bosses to run than Dominus for that if you're undergeared. Dominus sucks though because he makes mapping pointless unless you're expecting to be running the highest maps.
The public outcry when that change was brought to light was simply too overwhelming though. Maybe next season they can try again, but I don't have any hope of it happening for Nemesis. Farming Dominus is also pretty much standard D2 behavior though so I imagine people enjoy it even though I find it terrible.

I would go even further, and say that Dominus is harder than anything in maps until temple piety (71) / torture chamber (72). So, instead of being a linear progression of Farm dominus -> low maps -> high maps, or a parallel progression of farm dominus slowly -> quickly OR do maps, the most efficient is probably something more like Do low level maps -> Farm Dominus -> High level maps. Which is fine, I guess, but it doesn't make a huge amount of sense to me.

It's more like Farm docks -> Farm Piety -> Farm Dominus -> hope one day you're strong enough to run high end maps even though it'll never happen. Running say 71 maps would be more profitable than Dominus (ilvl73 loot allows max life roll and all the good resist rolls), but you also have to account for the opportunity cost of rolling said maps and all the time spent reaching those maps. If you value fun then mapping is worthwhile, but in terms of profitability it is a huge waste of resources over Dominus

balancing the whole game around soloing is bad, i agree. but a significant number of players are solo or self found, and they have to feel worthwhile playing the game.
|
Yeah there's a major opinion that since 99% of the player base will never reach high end map, they has to make good uniques drop from none map too. This was the reason for changing Kaom and Shav to drop normally again in 1.0c.
Which really doesn't make much sense when Kaom drop outside maps and things like Remorse is map only =/

wand tree
couldn't sleep so i made a low life crown of eyes wander tree. not sure if good. i guess it is really low on es? but the deeps should be off the charts. also got some nice 200 es gloves with a bit of flat phys, 50 res and 30 int for 15c. i think wander gear is pretty much done except the wand crafting and shavs.
yea, so basically back to square 1 in terms of cost lol

Too much deeps make it hard to cull guys

so does power siphon but hey w/e. deepzz

Too many wand passives. Most of them suxxors.
I wanna go back to a lightning coil but nobody's selling a 6L one
|
^6L yourself with 30 fus. If he could do it, you could do it too
Btw what's the usual price of 54-55 IIR amulet ? The cheapest I can find with b/o on xyz is 5ex =/ + Show Spoiler +Cuz I just sniped one for 2c muhaha. Dem sniping skill
Oh and bal you definitely need more ES. Vaal Pact cant help when a single reflect can KO from full
this is the 0 dmg, group only tanky spork culler that I'm doing. Not sure with almost no +life on gear this would be enough.

Nobody's selling a 6L lightning coil Nobody's selling the kind of GG ammy that would make me want to upgrade (Already have 70 life 26 wed) Nobody's selling boots that are GG enough for me to buy (mine are 88 life 25 ms 260 armor 33 lit res). need more light/chaos/armor basically, a bit of fire would be "bonus". Nobody's selling gloves that are GG enough (need 80+ life big armor/light/chaos/added ele dmg/IAS, not all but most). The GG ring I want is already over 5ex and the seller is a dipshit. My belt is 150 life I can't really afford to change it much. I could exalt it for resists (2 suffix open) but theres 4 good mods and 7 bad ones in the suffix slot (4 resists, 7 flask/stun shitmods). 1 more level and I'm 90 which I think would end up in a few good things happening but I'm stalling on XP because I cannot find maps above 73 no matter what I do (90-100+quant maps exclusively when running over 73). 73 maps aren't good xp at all any more.
My progression feels completely halted
On the plus side, my resist auras FINALLY hit level 20 (thx ggg for adding them late :/ lol) which means that with some creative shuffling and an empower level 2 I can get to 87 lightning res at the cost of running hatred which everybody else runs anyway and which barely benefits me at all (I do like 18-60 phys dmg per hit lel). The math works out kinda worse this way though...
It'd be fixable if either more auras were 40% (GL with that) or if Alpha howl would roll BBRR/BRRR with ease . I think.
Hnnnnng first world problems

so what wand nodes should i get rid of...
in gear terms i'll have like 200 int from gear, which is like 40% es. 200+ es shoes and gloves, 40 es belt, 15% es and 45 flat es amulet
asked etup for proper es% from tree, he said 200%. im never getting close to that lol

Yeah I don't know where your survivability is going to come from. Is this for a non-HC league which is fine then since dying isn't a concern. Otherwise you'll have to revamp a lot of things, get CI, lots of ES% etc.

Hnnnnng first world problems Kind of in a similar position on my spectral thrower. Hit lvl89, and feel like I'm really unlucky with maps. I've tried running some RIP mods for high quantity and taking it really slow, but if the maps don't feel like dropping it's not much you can do. I always get jelly when I watch Etups stream and see him getting 3x the profit he puts in lol. He's not even running that high quantity most of the time. Think I have 1x 76 1x 74 left, and a couple of 70-71. Found the Pillar of God unique staff in the last map I ran from the Plateu boss, and wasted about 22 stacks of jewelers (all I had) + several stacks of wheatstones failing to 6socket it and just logged off.
I'd like to get a new sword, but everything that's a decent upgrade cost like 15+ exalts Still only gotten 1 single upgrade from when I was piety farming to 79, which is pretty sad at 89.
Races are not really the same either after I hit 1k points. Now I just play full yolo and RIP most races due to it. Had a 54 min Vaal kill in the 2hour fixed solo, new personal best for me by far. Then proceeded to waste it away by playing recklessly in docks, and got stuck/desynched in a blue pack

@vndestiny: Try this tree I'm fairly sure it's better. Yeah its more points but way more life and damage and more efficient pathing. If you have resist issues just run purity its only 40%. @Balsam I'll try to cook you up something maybe. Vaal pact is so many points lol. @zoroxo lol 1k points. Balsam made another acct to get the good low rewards again (Divination distillate/heup/gifts especially). You could do that a few times as those all sell for like 2-5ex. Grats btw. And thanks for the commiseration .
@balsam: something like this is less damage but probably still fine. I mean I really dislike the low life crown of eyes plan because I believe you do enough dmg without it but whatever. Its missing some of the best wand nodes but vaal pact costs too much to get.
You can basically pick 2 of 3:
Good ES total Good Damage nodes (Crit/Wand/Spellpower) Vaal Pact
Which is why I feel like CI or Life is the way to go not low life. CI gives you way more ES and a better chest for it, life makes it easier to get Vaal pact and damage at the same time (although u don't get the low life bonus).

Cayman Islands24199 Posts
but mah crown ;_;
with low life i can get blood rage's attack speed bonus, plus 30% more dmg from PA. i dunno.
|
I mean its softcore you can run around at 3K ES if you want to.
YES LOW LIFE IS BILLIONS OF DEEPS and vaal pact pretends to fix the survivability issues associated with that. But it doesn't really. You are gonna crit a mob for 40K and the return is gonna 1hit you through vaal pact.
Or you will die to devourers popping up on you in 1 hit. Or vaal will lazor you. These things happen.
Unless you have a 600es shield somewhere and are holding out on us... lol.

hmm yea i'll try to get a high es shield i guess. i guess i can't run prism guardian either then. it's pretty much 0 es lol
