I mean, I think hardcore is simply a better way for the game to be played, and I think a LOT of players agree. But the implementation of the game precludes 4/5 of the players from playing in Hardcore leagues.
note that GGG agree about hardcore being "the way its meant to be played" and were publically ecstatic that nemesis saw so many players on launch, far more than previous iterations of hardcore leagues have ever attracted.

Increasing item level wouldn't be a useful recipe even if it existed, especially if it involved exalts.

Have you seen that wand that oneofthem posted last page? Its ilvl 73, and it has space for a flat-phys prefix.
I'd pay 4ex (one per level) to get it to ilvl 77 to craft the top flat phys (flaring) over the 2nd top (tempered). Its an average of 9 flat damage more. Times 250% IPD (actually more cuz quality) times 1.3 APS is up to 40ish dps. Thats incredibly huge.
Again, this is a "tyrannical emperors" wand. Afaik its the only one to EVER EXIST go check standard for mirrorable wands lol.
But if it was say white items only then yeah it would clearly be awful.

You shouldn't be able to keep item mods with the way the current recipes work. It would be worth it for his wand, but it shouldn't be possible for it to work with the way the engine is set up currently.
Also it's only 251 IPD including the quality ^_^ although 269 is possible with lucky divines I guess.
|
And I can accept that it won't happen, but I was at least curious . Imagine if you could use that flask recipe to roll tempered on the wand LOL.
The wand will get divined a few times I expect. Goes up to 249. Of course it will almost certainly not end up at 249 but should be well above 250 after quality I'd hope.
EDIT WARZ

My build is similar to that except I start Shadow and this is my tree right now. It should be more or less complete when I end up like this. I'm sorta debating if I should go for Fusillade as well. I know I don't get Vaal Pact or Blood Drinker but as of right now I'm completely fine with reflect and double reflect in 72 maps. I can't run a high enough level of AA due to some mana issues, but I am still extremely tanky with Iron Reflexes and the gear I currently have. Once I get the insane amount of currency I need to respec into CI my build should look more like this I think. I'm still working on improving it, but this is the best I can do at the moment, I'll take any help I can get. I realize that Scion is probably better for this, but I like Shadow more
My attack is PS/LMP/Chain/Increased Crit for the 5th link it's either going to be Added Fire or Physical Projectile. Then I'll juggle in Faster Attacks when I get a 6L and see what does the most damage. Having Blood Rage give leech and Frenzy charges will make my damage absolutely insane.

I still wonder why it's even possible to roll subpar mods on items. + Show Spoiler +I can understand rolling unwanted mods, but why can you roll lower tier mods at all? The best way to do it would probably be to make the best possible mods only possible on magic items, with rares only rolling 2nd tier mods, so the best possible item in the game is a regal/triple exalted item, and increase slightly the range of the mods so you'd want to divine a few times. It simply sounds like better design to me.
Maybe have it so the base vs the ilvl is important. If the ilvl is 20 above the base, it can roll a certain class of mods. So you'd find either godly lower level items, or pretty good items of your level as you progress, much smoother progression, and the endgame would be basically the same.
On another note, I really wish they made the next softcore leagues much more hardcore. Make it so your character is banned anywhere from 1 to 5 days when you die. This way the occasional desync/crash/power outage death isn't as bad and you can still take on a challenge, but dying in a map is a huge penalty, and dying in the first ~60 or so levels might as well be death. Otherwise, make the softcore league the hard one, with increased monster health, speed, AoE, pierce, etc.. It kinda sucks to have to choose between a challenge you can't affiord to face or an easier league with little death penalty (and shrines actually make the game easier than default).

My idea of the partial scouring for a rare obviously sounds better and get to be implemented first xD
I think there's no unknown vendor recipe at this point, since the players figured out the new recipes added in each certain patch (patch notes specify the number of New recipes). So unless it's from the beginning, I'm not seeing it =/

Why do you guys not pick up conduit?
I guess it is somewhat unlikely for people to be able to utilize power charges and not be generating them themselves, but still ^_^

He needs this so his wand can get attack speed suffix anyway, except the way you set it up he'd lose emperor or tyrannical so it probably isn't even worth it.
|
Personally my build was power charge only so conduit seemed to be of mild use at best (crit-users generate their own power charges generally I thought). The CI version with blood rage should certainly take conduit.
I mean, my main is RT so power charges aren't very helpful lol.
@vndestiny: GGG has said that a "remove a random affix from a rare item" currency is on their list for when they feel like new currency is needed in the game (maybe next 4-month?). So it won't be a vendor recipe thing.
Shrines definitely raise your chance of death, so in that manner they do not make the game easier. I would be very displeased if shrines became part of any hardcore leagues. They do seem to help packsize somewhat which is very attractive in softcore though
The wand is still like 250+ pdps with a tempered roll even without an IAS prefix. Sure IAS would be nice but you take what you can get.
|
So many nodes not enough points! I'll try to pick it up when I go CI. I'll be able to give everyone Power, Frenzy, and Endurance charges.
|
Frenzy charges add 15% attack speed and you just have to cast frenzy every ten seconds (and you're probably attacking at like 3APS so it doesn't take long at all). Blood rage better obviously, but if you don't have the chaos resistance to use it then frenzy should still result in an increase in damage. Charges are imba. Use them all

wand is at 150 pdps without flat phys. with tornado being 65 (low+high), and tempered max being 60, the max dps of the wand is over 300, considering tyrannical and emperor rolled low.
|
We r a lot of exalts away from that DPS though lol.
Still, definitely worth rolling I think. Go buy eternals lel.
Charges are OP but they are a bitch to generate lol. I should test that new charge-giving flask

There's no way that a majority of players will ever participate in a hardcore mode. Any game, ever. There's a reason Blizzard is dumbing/casualing down all of their games and that LoL has such huge player/viewer numbers. For every hardcore (in every sense of the word) gamer there are 10 dudes/dudettes who just come home from work every day and want to relax playing video games for an hour or two. They'll never risk "losing" their (probably only) character in a hardcore league (unless you casual it down so much that it doesn't qualify as hardcore anymore). 20% of players playing hardcore is amazing especially with desync in the equation.

i think an ilvl recipe would be pretty good. makes more of the game relevant instead of just high lvl maps. cost of the recipe can be adjusted so that the higher level maps are still efficient but something with good mods that dropped in docks would still be ok. it would give people who have attachment to their self found gear a way of making them viable in endgame

Does farming Piety/Dominus really need a buff?
|
In hardcore probably not.
In softcore the rewards aren't really there IMO compared to just running decent maps (74+) where most good mods can drop from even white mobs like top life. But maybe thats just me hating doing sceptre runs lol.
Don't forget that realistically raising the ilevel of an item is ONLY good when it already has the rarest, most desirable mod (tyrannical or maybe the chaos res mod) and you are trying to exalt a more common but higher level mod (aka flaring). Since Dominus can never drop a tyrannical item, nor an emperors, it would be 2nd tier IPD and hybrid rolls that you'd be maxing out on (still good obviously).
I dunno most of the Dominus farming that I've seen focuses heavily on uniques anyways, only picking up Chaos Recipe fodder and maybe top tier items (Corsair swords, top armors, etc).

Does Iron Grip affect the damage of Poison Arrow's cloud? It says projectile attacks but the tooltips dps doesn't change.
|
The cloud does chaos damage and iron grip applies the physical damage increase from strength to projectiles. The cloud doesn't do physical damage so it makes sense that it isn't affected by iron grip.
