Is it just my imagination or was that totem in GMP EL much harder? I tried to ran past it 2 times and died. 3rd try I died at lvl 10... dunno why I bothered with that race, the regular Endless Ledge is already so so much RNG, this one was plenty times more. Library Freezing Pulse guys are insane, same for Corse Spitters, Devourers, .... etc pp.

Glad there's another Descent:Champions soon!

EDIT with Descent Champion experience:

Made lvl 21 1/4 or so and was already at Gravicius... I saw I have absolutely no chance killing him with 47% fire res. Should have full cleared more zones. Only fullcleared the Zombie zone, the Flame Sentinel zones (that took me ages to clear.....very dangerous) and the Arc caster zone (75% light res this time haha, totally did not want to die here this time!). GG

Yeah, full clearing so you get 22 is probably the best strat, think only 1 ranger has managed to kill general yet. I tried at 21 with 55ish fire res, no chance.

Well... there is too much to put it shortly. Basically know what you do. Don't waste too much time not fighting.

In Descent:Champions I play a Mara and pick Gnarled Staff unique and the Helmet unique in which I put Ground Slam and Heavy Strike and later Added Fire (not sure if you can get Leap Slam at Descent:Champions as Mara?). Try to kill 4-5 monsters or more with Ground Slam most of the time, skip single monsters if they are not blue/rare and try to find higher zones. That is until later when you are underleveled (like I was lvl 10 in the lvl 14 zombie zone which is godlike btw) where you might want to kill monsters until you are good to go on.

Personally I'm very wasteful with Orbs in Descent:Champions. Like, I always use them right when I get them, except for Alchs, Chaos Orbs as well as Exalted Orbs (which I put on fitting weapons until I have a good one, then on Topaz ring for Mirroring later). For example I use the 2 first Transmutation Orbs you get on the Coral Ring (or was it Iron Ring?) and Coral Amulet.

You might want to watch VODs of good racers like Helmannn (he's still far better than me)!

I think every class can get Leap Slam by going to the Obelisk of Faith, which is an optional sidezone right before the Cage, iirc.

It is the disconnected platform level you see in the trailer. Basically, they give you leap slam, and there are leaping goatmen on small platforms everywhere. The level is really short, and the exit leads straight to the Cage.

Also, you get an iron ring in Chattering Halls, and a coral in.. croaking? Not sure of the name...

OK, did not do that sidezone yet. But so far I've been "fast enough" with Ground Slam (aside from dying). At least if Gravicius is the last enemy.

Leap Slam would probably make it even faster, but I think it would just make me die faster as well. Especially vs the Flame Sentinels.

I think that you can get leap slam (at least as a marauder) somewhere after killing Brutus (maybe even after the flame giant thingy). I am pretty sure I picked one up from a chest but I completely forgot which area it was.

Actually come to think of it, I might confuse it with regular descent... I think I did too many races over the weekend...

Did pretty good this race... Lvl 22, 10th. But I could have done better. I still waste too much time with currencies and inventory and flasks and picking up stuff from exiles...
I was almost done full clearing the hall 3 and was barely 22. There's really not that much more xp out there. Those arcers are so scary with -50% lightning, but on the other hand, the hall 2 is really easy with 40% fire resist =)

Don't worry about it in the descent champions. The race is fundamentally broken, in that it isn't really a race. I just did a test and completely skipped the movement speed and quicksilver zone and full cleared every zone and got to 21.5...

What's the point of a race when you are not actually racing but it's all about how many blues you get?

I could write an in-depth critique about how exactly it is broken and where the issues lie, but it just feels like a waste of time. Descent champions is alot of fun, but as a competitive race it just sucks monkeyballs.

I feel like they want to make it a signature race, but they made Gravicius simply impossible for the current edition. They also said they were going to fine tune it as we go, so we won't be stuck with blatant issues forever like the original Descent.

What everyone agrees on at least is that Champions is by far the most fun in PoE so far!

So seems that the trick to general is viper striking 4 times and running scared behind the pillars. Got him to 80%. Just takes a long time, and if you mess up once you pretty much insta die. I guess if you get charged or w/e he does that makes you burn, you might as well log out to safe flask charges.

lol, I feel bad for getting an insane two-handed mace for lvl 12. Every decent person would have won from there, I guess. Had 56% phys, 8-14 phys, 7% IAS, LL, LOH and accuracy, lol. Groundslam did like 130+ DPS and Heavy Strike around 270 (Hatestorm took 6 Hits at max). I'm fucking slow.^^

Nah, it's just pure RNG, you can full clear every zone and only hit 21, whereas someone who rushes and gets massive blue packs hits 23. Descent Champions is just fundamentally broken, but yeah I guess I already said that.

Well seems like there's no zone after the boss so, guess that means no one will ever hit 26. So best strat is still to just chill and farm out zones. Even if you beat him, which was proven possible today by a scion (and supposedly by a witch in alpha), it seems like terrible xp/min.

I just run one side (usually right side) and only start full clearing 1-2 zones in cruel if I have terrible density and fall behind a lot. If not I never full clear until the merciless zones. Won me first duelist like 3 times now =D
